September 6, 20241 yr Popular Post My phone says it's that time of the week again. I'm only going by what it says, could have fooled me. Today I'll be unloading that load of rocks I picked up yesterday. Will probably take me longer than the 2 1/2 hours it took me to load them into the neighbor's van. For some reason I'm moving a bit slow today. So, while I sit here waiting for my "Breakfast of Chumps" (two aspirin and an allergy pill) to kick in, ... What's on Your weekend Agenda?
September 6, 20241 yr Popular Post It's a day of mourning in our household, the %$$#@&)*&%%T^ NFL kicked off their season last night, another %$$@^&()*&& 5 months of interference with the evening news and other TV stuff, not to mention the uncalled for time the news spends talking about the ^^%#^*() game that happened today. Anyway, I hope to wrap up my grandson's coffee table this weekend and then maybe get back to "as the wood turns". Should be a magnificent weekend, tomorrow's high is in the 60s, might do some outside stuff.

September 6, 20241 yr Popular Post 4 applications of wipe on poly on the cane, may need one more on the handle. Then to find/make a box for shipping.
September 6, 20241 yr Popular Post Finished mowing yesterday, hence the rain today. Also finally wrapped up the wood chipper recondition. Headed out in a bit for another Friday funeral. Long time, faithful member and former deacon of our church. He had been mostly confined to a Nursing home the past 3 years. I've known him for over 60 years; he was a few months younger than my dad. During his working life he was a gifted automotive machinist; many years at our local NAPA store. He was the best at his trade I ever encountered; regrinding crankshafts, boring cylinders, repairing cylinder heads and so on... absolutely the BEST! On top of that, a genuinely humble and nice guy. He'll be missed. RIP George. A wedding to attend tomorrow at 4:30P; who schedules these things? Church services and responsibilities Sunday.

September 6, 20241 yr Popular Post Work, then 2nd coat on a base for a tire tool at work. Got to practice welding some.
September 6, 20241 yr Popular Post The last couple of days, I've been repairing our back brick/flagstone walk(16 ft.) to the backyard. We've had a couple of chipmunks living around the area and they had undermined everything there, resulting in the slow collapse(2-3") of the brick/flagstone. I've had to remove everything, fill in the damage, relevel the bed, as well as pull the gate. With Leitha's help we dropped in the last piece of flagstone(3 times because it wasn't level) and can now enjoy the walk to our backyard without tripping.
September 6, 20241 yr Popular Post Moose & Squirrel Express dropped Page #1 off, this morning... This is for ONE of the Bottom Doors....Raised panels will be coming out of this pair of planks... 7/8" x 9-3/4" x 61".....each will give me 8 Raised Panels.. I suppose I should star a thread up, over in "Woodworking"?

A friend just had two retaining walls rebuilt after chipmunks tunneled behind and under them, allowing water to get into the spaces. When the water freezes, it pushes the entire wall out of vertical. Expensive, to say the least! Love your renewed walk!
September 6, 20241 yr Popular Post Rain all day does kill plans to finish what we started yesterday. Got a friend to cut this dead laurel oak at dons place as his saw is bigger. After he cut it and left we started hauling to the burn pile. Wish I had done video of the fall. It just exploded when it hit. Didn’t know the top was that rotten. worked about an hour cutting and hauling and raindrops started. Hope it clears tomorrow so we can 🔥. headed to shop now to turn something. Actually, I ran into a section of road that was like a washboard and the van did a bit of "Rockin Horse" down the road. (Pun intended) The van is a 3500HD (15 passenger) with a 10,000 lb. load rating. That load of "Rocks" just leveled the van out. Edited September 6, 20241 yr by Larry Buskirk

Used wire wheel on everything but rotor faces. Hit them with 180 grip few passes. Then used Rustoleum primer, black, and after a day of drying hit it with 2 coats Rustoleum Gloss Black. Sprayed with my critter sprayer. Perfect for small jobs like this. Doubt the rotor faces will last past few years but the rest should hold up well.
