Not yet! Heading back out this morning.

Hope you filled the saddlebags with plenty of donuts and coffee. It can be rough out there on the car shopping trail.

Working on 22 memory boxes for Children's Hospital patients.

Got them done.  I tried 4 with sliding lids, but decided too fussy and didn't like them, so the rest reverted to just a pull off lid.  Most were made from some salvaged oak floor boards.

Been a busy few days on my end.  Beginning Monday AM following my neck PT I took the Mrs. to Macon for a scheduled heart cath.  It came back all ok, but we had both been on pins & needles for the last 2-3 weeks.  That was an all day affair and puts us back to wondering the cause for her occasional issues...  Tuesday I painted some trim for daughter's pantry cabinets and loaded the truck for the trip north to install them.   Wednesday afternoon I was working outside and went into the house for a glass of water.  Passing through the mud room I got a strong wiff of "hot" electrical something.  Noting the dryer was running I did a quick inspection - looked ok, ran outside to check the vent.  It looked normal and no electrical odors.  Back inside it wasn't too noticeable downstairs... upstairs was another story, I was "greeted" by the acrid stench of electrical burning and a layer of smoke.  No fire alarm though.  I checked the HVAC closet and the fan was not working but I could tell something was hot.  I yanked the disconnect and called the HVAC company.  Seems the fan relay blew up and took the control panel and transformer with it...

Thursday morning they came back with the new parts and got it back up and working.  Opened the house up upstairs and down to air it out...

Friday Julie & I headed to Atlanta.  I shut both systems down and opened all the windows for a 30 hour "airing out".

We stopped in Locust Grove for one great lunch.  Up near @Gunny, and Gunny if you don't take Lena out to Southern Fusion sometime I will personally kick your butt... or maybe just settle for a verbal kicking... :throbbinghead:  It was seriously good groceries... and the $4 biscuit was worth every penny!

At our daughters I got the cabinets installed Friday evening and the trim installed Saturday AM.

A few misc. chores and we came home yesterday.  Downstairs was ok, upstairs still has a lingering odor...

So today, if it's not storming I think we will head back to Macon for an afternoon movie at the historic Douglass Theatre  and then back home in time to watch the Super Bowl.  No bets on my end, I've no dog in the hunt, I just want to see a good game.

@John Morris Did you buy a car yet?  I hear that used cars are falling in value a lot lately, and judging by the car fax spam I get every month or so with an estimated value for my truck it must be so.  A few short months ago the value was $22,000 (which was more than I paid for it three or four years ago), yesterday's spam pegged it at $17,000.  Don't be too quick about passing over a car based on a pic that looks like a dent, plenty of times I've looked out the window at the wife's car wondering what she hit only to realize it's a reflection of the driveway and the curve of the body panels that give it that appearance...

Sage advice Cal, and thank you! We are heading out yet again this morning, hopefully this is the one. And to answer your question, yes the used car market has finally gone down! The 6000 dollar cars we are looking at now, were doubled just over a year ago. I'll report back in if we hit a homer today!

WOW. Close call Cal. Scary just seeing the picture. Thankful it happened when it did and not while you were gone. May want to install combo smoke/fire/carbon monoxide alarm in the HVAC closet. Glad it wasn't any worse than it was.

Well, I had to look that one up. Sad, considering my great-great grandparents immigrated from Germany, settled in Pennsylvania initially before traveling the Ohio River downstream with a few other German families then homesteading in Southern Indiana not too far from the river.

Now I know that "donut" affection is not only a much coveted tradition but also runs deep in my heritage. Nothing else I can do but honor tradition and heritage.;)

Thanks Dave.  We had originally planned to make that Atlanta trip on Wednesday!  I asked the tech what we would have come back to... he said the damage was done and parts did what they were supposed to do :WonderScratch:

He said it wouldn't have done anything further.  I guess that's right because I didn't hear the wires sizzling or anything like that when I opened the closet door.  I'm thinking the sheet metal cover over that part of the air handler serves more purpose than keeping fingers away from the electric wires!

It will be hard to trust it the next time we head out of town, that's for sure.
