I've got a bit of a headcold so I gave up on Santa's gifts and finished wiring an old lamp for my neighbor. It still needs socket covers, but it's working.

Son & I are both down with head colds, so we stayed around the house yesterday.  I finished up the wedding mirror for James & DIL.  DIL will not be joining us for Christmas, we are all disappointed about that, but we understand her not wanting to get out in public and travel.

A couple hours after the above shot was taken James headed outside to get a photo of a downey woodpecker on the suet feeder.  He had bought himself a new camera lens this past summer that is "perfect" for birding.  He came in a few minutes later and said he had seen a yellow bird.  I assumed that it was a Pine Warbler that I had spotted last year.  Not so, according to my bird book he actually got a rare sighting of a Wilson's Warbler!  Holy Cow!!! We both immediately went back outside but it was near dark by then.  He thinks he seen it again but I couldn't confirm it.  Now I am wondering if the bird I seen last year may have been a female Wilson's Warbler and not a Pine W.

From Webster's dictionary or perhaps some other nearly reliable source:

Snork: to expel or discharge liquid through ones nostrils sometimes in a violent or uncontrolled manner; e g. he laughed so hard while drinking coffee, it came out of his nose.;)

Wasn't laughing when it happened it just went down the wrong pipe causing that violent uncontrolled choking/coughing reaction.

The past few days at job have not failed to deliver in drama.  Thursday our AC tech / basic mechanic on all other things, he got a wild hair up his crack and decided he was taking rest of day off.  Didn't ask manager, submit any request.  Just left work.  Yeah, with only him and myself working you cannot just leave. Service Manager suspended him, indefinitely.  Owner left for a cruise, so he isn't around to go whine to about being suspended until he gets back.  Now it is just me, and a tire /alignment tech left in entire building.  Thankfully my son is home from Merchant Marine Academy, so he is working with me through next Friday.

Last week of the year, our chances of getting a new tech within next month are going to be pretty slim.

So much for my theory 2 years ago when I thought I would start here and run in the middle of the pack and ride out until semi retirement in 8 years.:JawDrop:

Tape a piece of paper over it and do a chalk rubbing, then you could use a straight edge & a sharp pencil to clean up the lines. At 1/32"thick I would stack enough material together to be at least 1/8" thick. Scroll saw or coping saw should take care of the rest.

Still need to make it to Menards for some J-B Weld, but once glued into place the washer should keep the crack stable enough for careful use.

What I mean by careful use is to support the table with one hand while doing the angle or height adjustment with the other so the cast Zamac parts don't have to support the full weight of the table. (That's even stated in the operating instructions but who reads those?) I'm not going to try forcing the crack closed because the part is now straight enough that it fits properly, and don't want to chance breaking it further.

Now to work on that 1/16" aluminum reinforcement plate. ;)

I do have a few feelers out looking for a good replacement, and one person I've traded parts with in the past said he thinks he's got one and if he does will be sending it my way.

It's getting harder finding some parts for 85+ year old machines. :OldManSmiley:

But we have our ways. :DevilLaughing:

On top of a coat of Minwax Special Walnut...delivery is set for Sunday, BTW..

Still getting used to the new bionic hip, so I've been out of the shop for a month.  But I made a batch of cinnamon rolls this morning.  One tray went to the neighbors that are very nice to us and the other to a friend who lives around the corner, is the church pianist and treasurer, and one I knew at Ohio State when we there there.  Unfortunately, two days ago, her old farm house caught on fire.  It's probably a goner. Technically, it belongs to a company that has given her and her husband life estate in it.  Thankfully, it didn't happen in the middle of the night and her husband was home to escape and get 911 called.
