Amazon links

Installed in the right sidebar at the forums main page, you'll notice two ad placements by Amazon.

If you'd like to help fund The Patriot Woodworker's annual operating costs, please click on one of those links, you'll be taken to the Amazon website, and you can move on and come back here. You don't have to buy anything today or tomorrow, or next week, Amazon will simply remember you got to them through us, and will credit future purchases to us in the form of a small commission. This does not effect your costs at all.

But they'll only remember you for a month, so if you feel like helping us out, just try to make a subconscious mental note to click on the ad every now and then, once a month is all we ask.

The links are visible to all, no need to login. Just a click, and you're doing your part in helping us fund this wonderful community of ours.

Thank you!

That's not a big ask at all!  I went ahead and did it.  A couple of comments (maybe one)... I very seldom get that far down the forum main page so I hadn't seen it until you mentioned it here.  So, maybe once a month or so you could jog us in your Monday message.  Do you know what happens to the commission if another link is followed?  Is the commission split, does it go the the most recent link you've followed, or what.  Sometimes, like a tool review, I will follow the Amazon link to see what the price is.

My weekend in a word was... HOT.  Hot & humid actually.  I got the lawn mowed Saturday but it slap wore me out.  For shop work I got the cabinet tops all top edged with solid wood and dyed/stained a few test pieces trying to come close to a color match.  Will see how they look this morning and either proceed or do additional tests.  I am actually closing in on these cabinets and can see my next three garage projects starting by the end of the week (maybe).

Record heat of 104 yesterday. Did get some finish work done on my mushrooms pics later. No rain here and trees turning brown like the grass. @John Morris Thanks for the mention.

News I didn't need today. Just got back from my checkup with the family doc; seems I've developed a hernia. He wants me to see a surgeon right away....I'm OK with that part but any surgery will have to wait. Marie is having back surgery on 9/1, so it may be October before I can get this taken care of. What's annoys me is that the hernia has occurred right where they wen in for a heart cath I had done 13 years ago. It (the cath) came back completely clear, and at the time I was thinking this was a compete waste.....now (IMO) it's biting me again with this hernia (my Doc was non committal about the connection I made). Anyway, it's raining today and looks like it will be all day (not what was forecast) so I may sneak out to the shop and glue up a scrap blank to try my hand at something I've never done: a cabriole leg. This is just to see if i can do one, I may have a future project that needs them.

Cool morning, so took advantage and mowed the lawn. Then I spent 1/2 hour or so cutting back foliage that was impeding the sidewalk on the side of my house.  More rain lately than usual so the plants/shrubs have worked overtime to spread out where they aren't welcomed.

My reclining chair project  is on hold.  Need to do some more engineering/drafting to see if I can also lower the seat height as the chair reclines.

Also looking at/revisiting some other past projects/ideas to see if they could benefit from the help of a linear actuator.

@Fred W. Hargis Jr, the tissue around the insertion was weakened allowing the hernia to form? I'm not an MD but, I did stay in a Holiday Inn once. ^_^

Monday is just a continuation of the previous day's endeavors.  Trying to make a golf themed clock with the scroll saw for my sis.

It's 10:45 and getting hotter by the minute. Might call it a day soon. Been at it since around 03:00. Time for a mid morning snack and a nap.

That's my diagnosis....I think I've stayed at Holiday Inn once or twice, but that was 30 years ago or more (may not have stuck with me).  The hole they made wasn't stitched closed, but had some kind of a plug put in it that dissolved over 10 days or so. Doc didn't line up with my accusation...maybe he thought I was fishing for a lawsuit.

Thanks for the nod John, I appreciate it. I have never monetized my videos but it's still nice to get views. That particular video hasn't gotten many.

Fred, it happens I had hernia mesh surgery last Thursday, August 3rd. While it's not something I would do for fun it hasn't been bad. The pain meds got me through the first couple days of it and I haven't needed anything except for one advil after I finished the regimen of pain control. I do agree with your assessment. If you hadn't had that heart cath performed you probably wouldn't be facing hernia surgery now! :)

Resting up today; raining, yet again, anyway.

Last few days tuckered me out. Started Thursday picking up then some sorting of online auction treasures. More to share later. Friday Mrs. & I celebrated our 100 years of marriage ;). Saturday, out early to attend oldest grandsons AAU basketball games. They won both games in overtime; then went out for lunch fo.lowed by a stop at Rural King. Sunday, church responsibilities, trip to Krogers after. Evening daughter/SIL had us over for supper to celebrate our anniversary. SiL received a couple boxes of auction treasures.

Rest of week, if weather allows, mowing needs done; yard is out of control; unusual for August. Pick-up sticks game prior to mowing. More sorting of auction items . Plenty of other projects in the queue.

Bummer. Sorry to hear Fred. Understand your dilemma from a similar diagnosis a few weeks back. Difference, I don't require immediate surgery, yet anyway. I also don't want to schedule until after my wife's back surgery with her date yet TBD.

Prayers to you and Marie.

helped out a nice lady from church this AM.  her husband recently passed away.  replaced and tightened up the screws on the top hinge for the front door, no more sagging.  hung up some solar lights on her back patio (cloudy today), and a few other small tasks.  we also plan to repaint her exterior trim this fall, some is peeling.  found the matching paint!  good, zero cost project.

Condescent pump quit working for HVAC system, minor flooding in basement.  Seems I had some sort of whitish mashed potatoes looking growth all in the pump.  Made the float too heavy and the pump didn't turn on.  Clean it all up and reinstalled, seems to be working.  Ordered new pump and will put that in when it arrives.  Keeping the old one, just in case.

As @Cal said, been hot as of late.

Yuk!  One of my annual chores (when I remembered) was to clean ours out with some white vinegar and a toothbrush.

I climbed behind the furnace to get a small box for something and looked at the console on the dehumidifier.  Wow, it read 29 percent humidity.  I'm thinking what on earth is going on.  I walk around to the front side and see that it's really 62.
