While Norm used Teak for the bench he built in the New Yankee Workshop....I just don't have his budget.....so..

I think Ash will do nicely enough...as this bench will reside in the Gazebo, instead of Russ Morash's Garden.....

Need to clean off the bench in my shop, first...then some layout work for the 2 back legs....need 4 pieces, as I will be gluing the legs up from 2 pieces.   

 

have to figure a good height for the seat....to locate where to start the bend for the back of the bench....

Time for ONE glue-up....

Tomorrow, the other back leg gets glued up.....was out of clamps, anyway....

 

When both back legs are done with the glue ups...will clamp both together and beltsand/plane until they match each other...while I work on the 2 front legs....

Nope...got it from a friend of mine....he has had these planks in the barn for over 10 years, now...

Seemed to work quite well...on this edge...it is when I flip this over to do the inside curve, that I may need the Drawknife, again....and some new belts for the beltsander

 

Drawknife is an 8" Fulton....may give the 6" Pexto a go, later...:ChinScratch:

While I was cleaning up the seat supports....as They needed to be squared up, and cut to length...then the curve was bandsawn..:JawDrop:

Amazing what happens, when one gets bored....

 

Had Eye Rehab, AND Vertigo Rehab this morning.....too.     Busy day.

 

While getting the clothes out of the dryer....laid out a couple mortises....and even chopped one.....about 1/4" deep....only an inch more to go....

 

And..that will be it, for a Monday...

 

Tuesday...0940hrs...eye exam....then we'll see...

1st mortise...wasn't staying still. so..

Moved things to the top of the bench...managed to get a dry fit...then transfer the lay out lines to the back leg..

This is right on the curve....was a bit tricky to chop down 1" deep...but...
