Thank you for making our newest folks feel welcome. My shop adventures Not so much shop work related but I was in and out of the shop as my son and I removed and replaced two windows at the front of our home. We purchased a couple nice Pella windows, one with a slider at the front of the home, and one stationary at the right side of the home. This all started when our son who is now 18 (doing a stupid 16 yr old thing) two years ago stood out in the street in front of our home with his buddies, they were playing stick ball out front, he decided it was a good idea to bat a rock over our home, the rock landed squarely on his second story bedroom window, shattering the outside pane of the double paned window. These were the original builder installed aluminums from 1991 when the house was built. Long story short, since his sisters room is right next door, I had to replace them both with Pellas to make a match, and that started a complete home window remodel starting with the kids windows last summer. I'm getting these in as I have the time, so this weekend was the time, we ordered these windows last summer and my son and I finally got the downstairs living room windows installed. The flashing I am using is Henry FortiFlash Butyl Tape Flashing Membrane. It's great stuff, peel and stick. The windows are trimmed out with roughsawn lumber of which I'll have up this coming weekend. Thanks for following me along on this little project. By the way, these were pretty easy, took the both of us about 3 hours to remove the old, and in with the new. Featured Topic @FrederickH is displaying his talents once again, see his shell creation and follow along. Featured download Thank you to @Grandpadave52 for bringing this download from Lost Art Press to our attention. Featured image One of my favorite axe makers, Gransfors Bruk Sweden also makes tribute axes from the past. This Tomahawk is a wonderful example. I have used Gransfors for some of my research into "Axes" and their history. You'll find our wiki page for axes here at AXE Wiki Page. And a wonderful consolidated history about the "Axe" here at Gransfor's page "History of the Axe".
February 6, 20233 yr Popular Post This is a real big week for me. Prepping for the Super Bowl party Marie and I will have on Sunday. We're not celebrating the stupid game, we celebrating the end of the #$%(*&^#@! football season!
February 6, 20233 yr Lot of "cracks to fill-in" and loose ends to tie from the past three weeks. Three funerals in the span of a week altered priorities. Busy week ahead. Several church related meetings this week as we plan for 2023. Haircut on schedule too. A few errands. Since we're experiencing a brief warm-up I had hoped to search my garage too for classified documents 'er lost pencils but likely will put that off until the next warm-up.
February 6, 20233 yr Popular Post Breakfast, a little web distraction (like this site). and hopefully I'll get a start on making the parts for a tool bench now that I have all the needed materials on hand. 4D Edited February 6, 20233 yr by 4DThinker

February 6, 20233 yr Yeah, it is...but Nascar doesn't dominate 3 networks at the same time like football, so to me it doesn't seem nearly as intrusive.
February 6, 20233 yr Popular Post great progress, Christmas lights off the gates! now just the tree (fake) and some pictures to swap back out.

College football is becoming borderline...I still love watching junior league, middle school and high school though...they still play for love of game and stand for our National Anthem
February 6, 20233 yr Popular Post A little progress so far. Rough cut the stretchers to final width. Cut the 4x4 cedar posts closer to final length so they would be manageable. Updated the drawings to verify the actual length including joinery to cut the stretchers and legs to. Legs will be 8 degrees slanted X and Y out toward the corners. End of stretchers need to be cut at 8 degrees. Glad I have a 12" compound angle chop saw that can cut through the 4x4s at a compound angle. 4D Edited February 6, 20233 yr by 4DThinker
February 6, 20233 yr Popular Post BIL and SIL due in around noon Mountain time. That's a little less than 2 hrs. away. No more shop time after they get here. At least, for today, anyway. Here's the table I've been working on. Well. i guess not. It won't upload. Try later.
February 6, 20233 yr Popular Post visited my neighbor this weekend, to give her a hand hanging some fancy mirrors. asked how she liked the cutting board i made and gave her. well, it's really nice, so nice, in fact, that she has it on her dining table with knick knacks displayed on it. so you don't use the cutting board for cutting food things? oh no, it's 'too nice to use'. sigh...... this one for those who don't recall:
