Featured link Open source research portals and websites are always fun to use, The Library of Congress has a wonderful collection of woodworking in America. Have fun! Recent download Featured image One of my favorite woodworking artwork, I can't find the painters name, I do believe it's a relatively late painting of woodworking in the past, if anyone can find the artist's name, I'd love to hear about him/her. Meanwhile, just look at the detail, see every thing in the painting and be amazed how detailed this artist was, and very well versed on the subject. One question, who do you think that man sitting down in the corner at the right rear of the shop is? Featured video One of my favorite fine furniture production shops, using machinery and human power, Thomas Moser just released this little peek into their shop in Auburn Maine. Enjoy!

November 28, 20223 yr Popular Post Didn't make the boneyard run yesterday, it started about 9:00 AM and continued untill about 3:00 PM. So we're going this morning. Need to get a front impact sensor for Bruces 05 Express, and a few small parts. Also some parts for his 99 Astro. (Another project ) Can't get the SRS codes to stay cleared, keeps coming back with same front impact sensor codes. Tried recalibrating the sensor, but get a "Can't communicate with sensor" message. I kind of expected the impact sensor to be bad with the way the front bumper was caved in. Actually surprised the air bags didn't go off. Boneyard has an 06 that should have the same sensor. AutoZone wants $160.00 for a Dorman replacement.

Isn't our English language amazing, how something that goes live is actually described as going off? Like, "My alarm clock went off". No wonder my Spanish speaking wife gets so confused with our language!
November 28, 20223 yr Popular Post We're back to red meat. Is ham classed as red meat? Still a little of it left. Even all the varied and assorted trimmings are gone. I ate the last of the pea salad yesterday. I love that stuff. Got the resin seal coat on the last two mesquite rounds, yesterday. Give it another day to cure before a 220 sanding and the final pour. The end is near. Yay! By Wednesday or Thursday, they can be attached to the Limbert legs and out of the shop!! Today is cleaning and organizing. Need to change the blade on the SCMS. It's going to see considerable use in the near future. Gotta build a landing for the front entry. Can't put it off much longer.

One question, who do you think that man sitting down in the corner at the right rear of the shop is? I don't know about that guy with the nail hammer! My take on the guy in the corner - that's your artist. Don't quote me on this, but I've been told that in years past (1800's maybe) it was common for artists to not sign their work in a painting like this that featured many people in it. Instead, the artist would paint themselves into the picture. That's another rabbit to chase down into the depths of google search But, your guy is in the back corner, unobtrusive, dressed differently, just taking in the scene...

November 28, 20223 yr Popular Post Prepping to drive to GA to see my mother on Wednesday. The weather doesn't look good but I think if I leave around midnight I will not only miss NYC morning traffic but get far enough south to avoid the backside snow in this storm
November 28, 20223 yr Popular Post It was ironically a short weekend due to traveling to LA for thanksgiving at my brother’s place, but I did get a few things done. Dropped by the local Woodcraft and picked up a couple little quality of life things like zero clearance inserts for the big bandsaw and a striking knife. Spent a fair amount of time laying out the joinery for the final patio chair and I am excited to get started on that this week.

November 28, 20223 yr Popular Post On vacation from the J.O.B. this week. Planning to spend some time in the shop...of course. I need to process more bowl blanks. Thinking of a better way to store those....hmmm... a conveyor belt in the lumber rack...nah too complicated...a tray in the lumber rack and a gaf to fish them out...can you hear the gears grinding... Have an appointment to go look at a truck later in the week. Time to trade in the Chrysler. .40

Heck, I'm an English speaking (presumably) person and it confuses me. I think I mentioned, as a teenager when a job application asked if you spoke any foriegn languages, I checked YES....then wrote in "English".
November 28, 20223 yr Still a little bit of lights to put out. Helped with the front gate deco yesterday. Now back to prep for show. The strange thing is my restless leg is kicking in the the morning now. Sure does disturb my "rest"
November 29, 20223 yr Popular Post I visited Moser's factory maybe about 30 years ago. There was one CNC machine, if I remember it was to scoop out the seats. A dovetail jig was on a platform about 10' up from the floor. At the time, they were working on several hundred chairs for a library system. But today, driving back from Lake Erie shore. When I got home I ordered some 710W Cubitron sanding disks (Amazon cyber Monday deal) and crashed.
