November 2, 20223 yr Author That is how I build drawers...the back sit in a dado..but, I do not rely on glue alone..have always added a few screws to reinforce the joint. Same with the bottom to the back connection....screws hold better than nails..even with a bead of glue. A "blend" of Amber Shellac and Witch's Brew has now been brushed on...waiting on that to dry...before the clear gloss poly goes on. Plug has been planed down flush, with a Stanley No. 60-1/2 block plane...and sanded smooth around the entire area... Stay tuned..
November 2, 20223 yr Author Shop smells funny..and I am not even down there.... Hmmm.. The top is Spalted Maple....the rest of the chester drawers is made of Ash.. Now has a coat of a Blend....half Witch's Brew, and half Amber Shellac....needs to be well mixed.. Trying to decide how to arrange the drawers..for the best grain match... Right now, they all fit without any binding going on...Maybe tomorrow, I can add a coat of Clear Gloss Poly?
