Good Monday morning!

Good Monday morning Patriot Woodworkers! What did you get done over the weekend, and what have you planned for the week ahead! Inquiring minds want to know. Please tell us what's happening in your shops, your life, and any events going on with you. Thank you for being here folks!

In my shop

Well it's been a grand week leading up to this past weekend, and this weekend was just as nice as far as weather is concerned. I could not believe the quick transition from unbearably hot to a nice cool down. We went from 112 degrees to 78 degrees in a matter of two days, and what a reprieve!

The cool off allowed me to return to my workspace and get a coat of finish on the wedding cross for our oldest daughter's upcoming wedding October 1st. I will have some images posted soon.

Thank you all for being here, and helping our community remain interesting and full of new content submitted by all of you.

And may the Good Lord Bless us all and keep us safe in our daily routines. :)

@OC3 (Glenn Davis) is a talented craftsman with a long line of projects under his belt, I have a feeling the images represented in his album here, are just the tip of the iceberg.

The 50th Anniversary of the Greene and Greene's, Gamble house was back in 2016, but it's still an interesting video to watch.

Seeing the Gamble house is on my bucket list, but likely won't happen. Nevertheless, I love the G&G stuff and have a few books detailing their efforts.

Big cool down here also John.  Left to go out of town last weekend, our temps were ranging from low-mid 70's to upper 80's low 90's.  On our return it is going from low 60's to mid to upper 70's; maybe low 80's but nice and breezy too :)  This allowed me to shut off the HVAC for a bit of a reprieve on our electric bill.  Or so I thought... daughter came home for the weekend so I wanted to turn on the upstairs a/c - nothing - thermostat isn't even lit up. :(

Accomplished over the weekend - cheered on my UGA Dawgs over South Carolina.  They (UGA) looked really really good :)

Got deck and front porch washed down.  Got shrubs at front porch trimmed back.

Got our latest & greatest booster shots, no reaction for me, the wife felt it and had a sore arm for a couple days.  Pretty much the same reactions as we had to the previous boosters.  YMMV

Got the Duster out and put a few miles on it.

The week ahead?  The contractor to look over the header over the garage door was prepared to come last Monday - but we wasn't home.  Haven't heard back from them, maybe they will come this week?

Reckon I will be calling for an HVAC service...

Weekly yard mowing today, and likely Friday.

Planning for a couple big builds.  Daughter wants a new dresser to replace her dorm style wardrobe.  I am sketching up plans for that.  I am planning to start as soon as the garage door header is done or a decision made to delay until next year when I plan to replace the door.

Also drawing up some plans for new storage cabinets for the garage to be installed when I complete the painting and such which will be some time next year.

Monday? :BangingHead:  Got almost as much paint on me this morning, as I got on the Lower Cabinet Doors in the Kitchen..

Might post that Desktop Organizer over in the Gallery.   While waiting on paint to dry.....then use a jig I made, to re-install 10 handles.

Pay Day is not until Wednesday, this week....

Had woodturners meeting Saturday and demos for Ag Museum after . Then what do you know sinus infection laid me low probably for rest of the week.

The president of the woodworking club did a stent as a docent at the Gamble House and he tells us some secrets about it and thinks they discovered on a renovation . No I do not remember that stuff. Did not know it was the Gamble from Proctor&Gamble.

D4 of COVID cooties lock down since testing positive Friday night. Did nothing over weekend. Did enjoy a phone call visit from @Larry Buskirk yesterday.

Pastor brought us lunch yesterday after church fellowship meal. Ladies prepared and sent pulled pork and all the fixings plus several desserts. All looked good, unfortunately no appetite so didn't eat much.

Nothing really planned until I get beyond this bug. Hopefully by week end will be up to mowing. It will need it after 1"+ of rain early this morning.

@Cal...those Dawgs are on a rabid roll right now!:Praise: Purdue had to go to extra efforts but found a way to lose at the end.:BangingHead:

Whatever all y'all have planned for the week, work safe, smart and plan all operations where power equipment is involved. An accident is always looking for a place to happen.

There comes a time when we have to face the reality of life. At 91, My wife and I decided there are some tools in the shop I should avoid using.

Saturday I sold my Jet contractors tablesaw, my 1617 Bosch router and my router table for $875.00. Still have my bandsaw, SCMS, Scrollsaw, Spindle sander, belt sander,  Joiner, several hand held tools and clamps that I feel will allow me to still enjoy making bandsaw boxes and do some scroll sawing. The buyer tried hard to get me to sell the bandsaw but I couldn't let it go.

Sorry to hear Al, but sounds like both you and Ellie thought this through and made the right decisions as you both saw fit. Someone got some nice, well taken care of tools. Good to know you're still looking at projects to keep you active in the shop. I'm sure the buyer was drooling over that 14/12 too. Just to reinforce, you made the right decision(s) because you made the decisions!!

Spent the weekend with Navy buddies. Placed a "brick" in the Veterans Park at Greenfield, Indiana.

Thanks Lew for your service, commitment and honoring others here in central Indiana. You were close...Greenfield is about 1:45 East of here. You weren't far from @Ron Dudelstoneither. Looks like a great group!

Scarfs and hats would be the only part of my uniform that might still fit.

This week nothing is planned.  I came back from vacation with the Rona and the wife tested positive last night so we are currently laying about in misery until this bug runs it’s course.

They were hitting on all eight for sure.  I think they could have given most any NFL team a good run last weekend.  I hope they can carry it through the season.

I don't know if this portends an early winter, harsh winter, or just simply fall moving in...

Honey bees tanking up at the bird bath.  I am not sure where the hive is, I haven't followed them.  It isn't in the house so I'm good :)

If you can blow up the pic there are a bunch of them around the waters edge, and a bunch in the air either coming or going:

To the right of the bird bath in this pic and across the driveway next to the deck on the left the tea olive is beginning to bloom.  Super sweet fragrance.  If we were to get a good rain about now it would be the delight of the neighborhood as I have several planted around the yard.  It sure makes working outside in the fall a joy.

Sounds like you got a very good price for your tools Al while keeping enough to keep you busy in the shop.  Looking forward to your projects :)

:ChinScratch: Monday

Now how did I miss that? :WonderScratch:

Thanks @Cal, I thought I did get a good price for the tools. I didn't feel like I had to sell, so I kept firm on my prices. I was lucky enough to have a buyer who really wanted the tools. He wanted the BS too but selling

that would have pretty much ended my woodworking.

There's hope Michael. I'm on D5 and starting to feel a tad better. At least sore throat is almost gone. Don't feel quite as exhausted. Lay low, drink plenty of water and keep an eye on your O2 levels. Prayers to you both.

My fever has now passed for 24 hours so I think I am through the worst of it.

Staying hydrated, getting plenty of sleep and so far so good 1-2 more days and I think it will be over.

Another shot of fall here in the deep south.  This is an Anise Swallowtail Butterfly.  Hard to get a good pic because it barely stops, when it does land it keeps working it's wings, unlike many others that will land and keep the wings open.

The lantana plant it is on is an old timey southern plant.  This one has been in my yard for over 25 years and was a small piece given to me from a plant that was likely planted in the late 50's or early 60's.  A favorite of hummers and butterflies/moths and bees.

@Cal...thanks for all the lush southern nature pictures. Appreciate seeing all the deep green this time of year. Here, the corn and soybeans have started their rapid turn to brown. In fact, I've already seen several fields of soybeans combined and a few acres of corn harvested.
