September 30, 20223 yr Author Still chewing on Cherry. I believe when I did the last Cheryl table I used Red Mahagany stain.
October 1, 20223 yr Author My wife has had me setting up a yard sale, so not much tine for the table. I bevel router the two inside sections of the ring to give me a defined line.
October 1, 20223 yr Author Other than installation abd final sandibg the chip rail is complete. Getting iit out of the way abd on to the cherry rail. The pattern is used again for the cherry rail.
October 2, 20223 yr Author When it cones to good wood, im slow, No hurries.. . Started cutting the cherry. Hard to cut long boards to shirt boards but it had to be done. It will take 12 pieces and require 1 1/2 boards. They were all bought years ago from the same dealer so there pretty consistant.. Thr angle is 15 degrees.
October 2, 20223 yr Author I cut the angles at 15 degrees. I overlay the line abd set it in just so the router can clean it later.
October 2, 20223 yr Author At this point checking, rechecked I make the second cut on the second piece and pocket screw it together.
October 2, 20223 yr Author I usually use my trusted Dewalt 708 for these angles, but last year someone had a Makita LS1013 for $75 and I bought I t.. without a second thought I thought it would be a good times to try it out. What I don't like. I believe it rests on ball bearings which I hate. You have to lock it or it can move. Edited October 2, 20223 yr by BillyJack
October 3, 20223 yr Author I have a 10 person player holder table I may try and bring back out. I got so far with it and decided I did not want to take that much room in the rec room. I have a double base and my wife is wanting pg a new kitchen table.😉

October 4, 20223 yr Author My circle is almost complete. I have just one more to cut. I layed out my lines in the beginning and try and stay in these lines. I have never used the Makita slider for something like this, but either it gets with the program or I do. Setting t h e saw and making small adjustments at the end if my circle left me pretty happy. Who says you can't use a miter saw for high end furniture? Hum....I can see the looks now. Edited October 4, 20223 yr by BillyJack
October 5, 20223 yr Author My center pin I found is just a 32nd off on one direction. Looks fine but isn't. I find that I have enough for about 6 tables and may want to keep the pattern healthy if possible.9ne center hole is slightly back from the others. I may try it first and see how much it's off.
October 5, 20223 yr Author Before i route, I used a 4x24 PC sander with a 100 grit to smooth out the glue joints. I usually use the Bosch with a bag , but wanted tk try out my PC sander pawn shop find. Of course Cheery dust everywhere. Luckily I just put a new filter in from Menards. I though the third picture was a crack from a pocket screw.. The cherry is a messing with early in da morning...
October 5, 20223 yr Author With the radius routed out, it's about a 32bd too small for the chip ring. I have a couple options.. #1 ... Reset the router tk take off a 32nd. #2....hand sand and make the ring fit perfectly. I'll chose #2... Why? The ring is shrinking. Over a couple days it's slowly drying and the rings are slightly separating. It may notvshring anymore, but I hate to route and it be too small over tine.
