After a few days I reached my first goal of 2 1/4.. Tomorrow it's back to the saw for enough material for the second ring.

The glue I'm using is older. The TB2 is atleast 5 years old and is before they started dating in 2019. I believe the TB- is 3 years old...

Starting the second stage of the chip ring. First piece will have no glue followed by glue. The scribe is thinner this time around as the radius gets tighter.

I'm at about 3 3/4 now. Goal is 4.5 on the second ring with a beauty ring to follow., Hard part is the chip cutout.

2-3 more days. This is the where  you'll need the most patience...

Pulled the Cherry for the outer arm rest ring. Deciding if I want a small beauty ring along the inside of the walnut chip holder between the chip holder and the actual poker playing surface.

Today I'll reach my goal of 4.5 inches. An outer ring 2 1/4 and an inner ring 2 1/4. While I have the mold setup I will probably make the beauty ring from cherry.

Coming along quite nicely BJ. Appreciate the detailed picture tutorial and especially your patience to capture and post.

You are making some serious progress on this Billy.

I was surprised to learn that you tackle all that excess glue with the sander.  I thought you might use a card scraper or anything other than sandpaper.  And I sure appreciate the technique you've shared for doing it, that alone should kick my woodworking up a notch ;)

Don't have a card scraper. I'm running into a problem with sanding belts. They are new, but old. My 6x80 belts for the grizzly edge sander and 3x24 belts for the belt sanders are old and breaking apart. Must have broke/broke seam on 6 or more till I found one that could still sand.

Nothing wrong with buying old/new sanding belts if you use them fast, but if your buying for bulk for long term sanding belts aren't the deal over time.

Don't buy bulk unless your in the shop, and very busy, otherwise buy as you go for fresh stock..

BTDT too having bought lots of 3x21 as close-out bargains from Big Lots, Sears, Menard, etc.

Found THIS...so far so good. Just remove all the old tape and clean cloth well with some acetone.

A lesson I learned some years ago after i ran into what I thought was a god deal on a large quantity of belts for my 3x21 sander. I'm not a heavy user of the belt sander and by the time I got around to using those belts every one broke after less than 1 minute of run time.

ditto, i stored a gaggle of 3x21 in my home garage, and went to use them and they broke minutes in, used up the last of them a bit ago, so now i just buy a few at a time, unless i'm gonna be in shop, the heat here eats every thing during the summer months. even had the drive sand belt on my drum sander it sat in the sun, when i picked it up, went to use next day and the dang thing let loose at glued joint, that was ugly, especailly setting it up again, ugh.
