It's late but hey life has been busy for us all these past few weeks.  @John Morris is busy dealing with family and such so we just have to make do.

 

How was Christmas????  Any cool new toys to brag about??

 

 

I got a nice set of 3 Narex chisels. I have tried one and it is a dream compared to my Harber Freight set.

Been eyeballing a set of them for couple years now....  Have heard alot of good things about them. 

Today was mostly resting after last couple days of the "bowl" games.  Made it to our monthly Deacons meeting tonight. Remainder of the week is comprised mainly of honey-dos. Garage time as is outdoor activities nada with the weather forecast; have a couple more meetings this week and a few errands that need done.

 

As for cool Christmas "toys," I'm still in complete shock over the gift Mrs. GrandpaDave gave me....my own cordless, portable hole shooter, Model 1911 made by Springfield Armory. First indoor "project" for it has been moved out a couple weeks or so.

Just fixing items around the house....nothing special...

It's the official start of "undecorating" at our place. I'm not only not talented enough to decorate, but I'm also not talented enough to undecorate. So Marie packs the boxes, and I carry them down to the basement. Given how slow she does this it will be an all week job.

 Well let's see now, had to replace a 3/4" feed line on the boiler next door yesterday.

Also looks like we'll be replacing about 30'  of 1 1/2" condensate return pipe, but for now the patches are holding.

Also swapped out the motor starter switch for the heat exchanger blower motor. It was tripping the overload relay.

We're hoping it was just a weak overload relay. We'll find out. Hoping it's not the blower motor. 

Oh the fun of a 60-70 year old system.

Cleaning up the shop.  Can't find my favorite 6" ruler.  Might have to go through the trash.

Another week at the J.O.B ahead.  The Mordor flu nannies have been busy.  New edict that all employees must obtain a CV-19 booster or lose their job January 25. 

 

Left knee still keeping me out of the shop.  Appointment with Ortho surgeon January 18.

Took me a long time to find the right rock for you!  

After a bit of online research, I think I've found out why the Shelix planer head leaves those grooves. Crud builds up on the seats and the corresponding cutter. I failed to clean them the last time they were turned to a new edge. There's fifty of them! My average time is 10 per hour. Unscrew each cutter, spray some tool cleaner on both and, brass brush the seat and the cutter, dry with a cloth and reinsert the cutter.

After all this tedious work is done, I sure hope it does the trick. I'm beginning to wonder if I'd been better off with the stock blades. 

Ah well, if this solves the problem, the time will have been well spent and, I know what to do the next time the cutters need rotated.

Gene, I would really like to hear about the results.  That is a lot of time cleaning and reseating.  I wish you the best with that great machine.

Not sure Of which health choice to which you refer. The Keto diet is in effect and I've lost 4 lbs since 12/26. As to the nicotine, I'm ashamed to say that I fell off the wagon after 4 weeks. I'll give it another shot soon, though. 

So far, I am spending the week waiting to get my truck out of the shop.  It seems that one of the tumblers in the lock cylinder broke and prevented the key from fully inserting into the ignition switch, which prevented the truck from starting.  With the tow to get it to the shop, a new lock cylinder and two new keys, they are quoting me a $621 price tag.  And that's with my military discount.  Oh well, it's a 2006 model, so things are breaking.
