WE DID IT!

A big Thank You to everyone who participated it this years Adopt-A-Family. Christmas is going to extra special for the Hulsey family thanks to the generosity of all of you. Merry Christmas!!!

Our Patriot Turners-

Christmas was the popular topic of the week by our turners-

@HandyDan gave us a look at the gnome ornaments he made for family and friends-

Dan gave us a little information about the materials he used in his post-

I think Dan must have started his gifts on December 26 of last year. These coin banks are really special-

See how Dan made use of recycled materials to create these gems-

@Ron Altier can find the most interesting things to do with scraps. This ornament is his latest creation

You can read our turner's comments at-

Ron also answered a question about making the ornament he shared last week.

@Gerald gave us a peek at a Christmas tree ornament he was playing with

He answered some questions about the turning -

Gerald also made these marvelous bells!

@Steve Krumanaker added some more ornaments to this year's list

Steve explains the additional batch in his post-

NOTE: Please read your turner's comments on this one. Some interesting suggestions by our readers.

Steve also made a super looking holder for his wife's favorite ornament-

Steve also added a video from Ashley Harwood, which demonstrates how to make the stand. Thanks Steve!

Presents and ornaments were not the only things happening with the turners this week.

@KevTN is thinking about adding a lathe to his shop and asked us for some help. Please see his post and provide any input you can-

@Static_LV posted an insightful description of learning to turn. We've all been there and our members offered encouragement-

But, his efforts were not in vain, he posted his success. Pretty darned good tolerance on that dowel

Static asked our opinion on laminating materials for items like a mallet. What are your thoughts?

Necessity is the mother of invention and @Gunny proved it once again with this handy build-

What is it, you ask-

What’s Coming Up-

With the latest iteration of the Covid virus, looks like most of the in-person events are being cancelled.

For The Newbies-

An interesting video for those thinking about getting into woodturning. Although it was made by/for Record Power, I believe the information is universal

Mike peace did an IRD on making Christmas ornaments as an introduction to woodturning-

Would you like to turn a bowl but you don't have a chuck, not a problem.

Just when I think you and our resident turners couldn't possibly out-do the previous weeks issue, this thread pops up.

Lew, you present this Forum and weekly update with the highest content and professionalism.

Well done to you and our TPW resident contributors.

Being in the giving spirit this time of year, as a result of the work you've put in each week this year, feel free to take the rest of the week off...paid of course:P

Thanks for the mention Lew. Great post with double dose of my Favorite Tim Yoder

Thanks for the nod Lew.  So much wonderful turnings by the members this week.  Must be Christmas or something.  Such wonderful colors and elegance.  I enjoy seeing what everyone does.  Gerald mentioned Tim Yoder as a favorite.  He is one of mine too.  He adds humor to his projects and explains how and why while he is turning.  I watched him on PBS many years ago and learned plenty doing so.  Merry Christmas and thanks for all your work and research you have done through the year.  It is greatly appreciated.
