I've been following all the stuff you're doing and it looks to me like your more-or-less keeping pace with Newman. You energetic youngsters make us old guys feel older!
August 19, 20214 yr Popular Post I'm with you Fred, I have a short punch list for my kitchen and I'm feeling tired after following Gunny with his DC work and Steve with his condensed version of a one month build.

August 20, 20214 yr Author Popular Post Thursday was more or less wiped out...not allowed to drive, not allow to go to the shop...and..not even allowed a beer..was filled with so many naps....that I am sitting here, wide awake, can't sleep. Have a couple Yard Sales to raid this morning...then I'll see about some work in the shop, maybe? Use of Blood Thinners has now ended. Watchman device was found to be working perfectly. Stay tuned
August 23, 20214 yr Author Popular Post Mowed the yard yesterday evening, once it had cooled down outside...did NOT go according to plan....shut the mower down, move the bench swing out of the way a bit...went to move it back AFTER the tall weeds were mowed off...found out there is a 5/16" bolt sticking out, where the canopy USED to attach...found it the hard way..with me hard head...made a nice hole. Was putting the mower away once everything had been mowed...noticed a long weed stuck around the front wheel. Used one foot to hold it to the ground, the other to shove the mower away...long story short..tripped over the dang mower, and fell to the ground...and I do NOT bounce like I used to...slammed the mower into the shed, slammed the doors shut...and stumbled into the house...a Cold Guinness Extra Stout seemed to be in order... Woke up today...feeling like a truck had run over me...waited until this evening to even try the steps to the basement ( Shop!) Laundry Detail... While down there, gave the inside of the top compartment a coat of Amber Shellac... Then cut a few liners...thinking I had enough.. And... Got these two top drawers done...and I am out of liner stock..need to buy another roll, later.. Picked up a hasp and some bars...and made a locking bar for the drawers... Needed to make a slot at the top of the bar.. Drilled 4 holes, then connect them..grinder to clean things up...down at the other end.. Nothing fancy..will do the job..Clothes needed to be taken from the washer, and stuffed into the dryer... Made a pair of tapered, round 3/8" rosewood plugs, and glued them into the two holes at the bottom edge of the case....then trimmed them flush...wiped a little shellac over them...called it done... Hauled the dry stuff upstairs, done for today... Stay tuned... ( fun part will come later , when this tool chest arrives upstairs....) This is where the tool chest will go, and take the place of those boxfuls of toys...er..tools... Might be fun?

August 24, 20214 yr Author Popular Post Nah, the bolt was actually harder than me head.. Last night, a coat of Clear Gloss Poly went on...this morning, THAT was rubbed down, to remove any dust nibs... Wiped down, then a buffer was used.. And ran it all over the case and lid. Tested the compartment.. To see how well the floor board holds up...enough that this doubled the weight of the tool chest...padlocks were bought, a 4-pack, all keyed the same... Ain't he cute? Those Rosewood tapered plugs? It IS flush... Got tired of seeing that "Naked Plywood" around back...so, I listened to the Rolling Stones..and Painted it Black. need to haul this thing off my bench, and upstairs...and load it up. Test load of planes stays IN my shop, though...I still might add a length of black chain between the lid and the case..so the lid won't flop over backwards...Hmmm, I am still on Laundry Detail...might just do that.. Otherwise, calling this done.. Thanks for looking in...
August 25, 20214 yr Author Popular Post There is now a black chain to hold the lid from going too far back. It also took a lot of rounnd trips to the shop, to bring the Tool Chest upstairs...2 drawers, 2 drawers, 1 drawer..case, and the dried clothes...Then the sorting out and putting away of 2 boxes of tools....Tried to take a picture of the chest...was having glare issues.. This will have to do..for now....
August 25, 20214 yr Author Popular Post Black Chain? Have to raise the lid, first.. The Goal was to have this done before Labor Day Weekend....Started on July 29? All locked up, using these padlocks... Ain't he cute? Drawer #3 has a few drill bits in it, top two are full... Top drawer.. Drawer #2.. . Drawer #4, don't want to crowd them..Drawer #5? Subject to change, of course...
August 25, 20214 yr Great work Steven. Now, take a break, let us catch up.... and go! What's your September project? 14 hours ago, steven newman said: Wiped down, then a buffer was used.. So, a bit more info here please. What are you wiping it down with, and what sort of compound are you buffing with?
August 25, 20214 yr Author Wiped down with a clean rag...Green stick applied to the foam pad on the buffer... Right knee has me laid up for a few days...
August 25, 20214 yr Popular Post Looks like a full kit. Are you planning on moving the shop upstairs?
August 25, 20214 yr Author Popular Post Just a place to hide all those yard sale GEMS when I bring them into the house...
