May 17, 20215 yr Author Popular Post With a couple of days in the70's I was able to get into the shop to work on the cabinet. Have the carcas assembled now, attached the drawer track, and made the drawers. Waiting for my daughter to decide on the drawer pulls. Today I applied a coat of General oil base satin finish which darkened the wood a bit. I plan to finish it with several coats of varathane semi gloss and for the top the finish will be Varathane gloss. My daughter doesn't want the wood to be any darker than it was after the one coat of oil base. The joinery is very basic, using pocket holes and glue to assemble the face frame and simple half lap joints for drawers. Got scared of the router box joint jig after the earlier incident. Going to have to figure out what I did wrong.

May 17, 20215 yr Author Popular Post Thanks to you all. I think it is coming together very well. Not the finest joinery, but it should serve the intended purpose for many years
May 18, 20215 yr Author Popular Post Thank you all for the positive comments. Hey Artie, you're welcome any time. Looks like all covid restrictions will come to an end on May 29 in MA.
June 2, 20215 yr Author Popular Post The drawer pulls finally arrived. My daughter is totally happy with it, so that makes me happy.
June 3, 20215 yr Author Popular Post Thanks for the comments . It was a simple and fun build. A bit more expensive than I had anticipated with the price of lumber these days but cheaper than buying anything made out of wood.
July 10, 20215 yr They are a heck of a lot easier if you use a false front. Drill the holes for the mounting screws in the actual drawer oversize to give yourself some space in which to adjust the position of the front. When you have it just right you can do any number of things to make it permanent.
