Great progress being made Bob.  I think you are going faster than I did a couple years ago.  Keep the progress and pics coming :)

I don't know about that Cal, as I recall yours was more involved and way bigger. My mental schedule tells me I'm behind but my cabinet schedule tells me we won't be there till the end of July.

Back porch and door are now just a corner in the kitchen. New window is late but we are not waiting, taper starts today. Hope to be primed and ready for paint this time next week.

Back in my sign days Phar-Mor was my headache, installed signage & miles of neon in close to 160 locations. The boss would hire a sign company in the city I was in & they would hang the outside signs in a day and then I would keep one guy busy for the rest of the week hanging neon & store signage inside. Leave on Monday & come home on Saturday. I averaged 65 work hours a week for the years 1987,88,89.

These signs are a white extruded plastic that look like the shape of cardboard inside, 3'x10'x 1/4" thick. Silkscreened on one side we would hang two rows above the check-outs. When the owner was caught cooking the books my boss like others was left holding the bag. After the bankruptcy court battles all the remaining signage was to be disposed of. We had close to 1000 of these ready to be hung.

Don't remember how many I've brought home but the majority of them I cut in half and put the between the roof rafters to create an air space from the soffit to the ridge vent and then installed insulation over them. Every time one of the kids needed a poster board for a school project it was cut to size. I still have a couple left and they do come in handy.

I have a few similar.  Corrugated cardboard but plastic signage.  Make great creepers when working on the car too.

Received an email today from the cabinet company that my cabinets are now in production. Placed the order on April 5th & deliver is still July 28th. Fast efficient service no matter how long it takes.

I did get my window yesterday one week ahead of schedule.

Installed the 36"x52" awning window yesterday without a hitch. Building this south wall flush with the drain wall leaves us with a 7.5" window sill which should make a perfect place for an herb garden. This part of the kitchen is the planned baking area so the baker should have plenty of sunlight in the winter. If my story pole is correct the receptacles should land in the 3rd row up of 6 subway tile backsplash, less cutting for the tile guy.

Looks good Bob, I know that the Mrs. is probably getting a bit antsy now to have it completed!

That was one advantage I had on our kitchen remodel; most of the time the Mrs. was working out of town during the week so there was usually some progress to be seen every Friday when she got home ;)

I suspect Cal's correct...the anticipation is building to see it done. It's really looking good, well done!

Moving right along.  Nice floor.

  • 2 weeks later...

Big project and it takes many hours.  When I started working on this house in March, folks wanted to know when I was going to get it painted.  I said, after the prep is completed.  After all the prep was done, it took a week to paint and they wanted to know why it was so quick.  So all the prep work is going to make it quick to complete.  Looks very good.  I suppose a vacation is scheduled soon.

The only thing I have scheduled after completion is sitting in my recliner and waiting for Patti to tell me that 28oz of dead animal is cooked medium and ready to be eating, then we'll talk vacation.

Finished up the window trim and installed a couple of pendant lights Friday. Saturday we started the cabinet install at the baking station. Have the corner cabinet & 18" mounted. Two 30", left of the corner, sink & pantry base unboxed and ready for Monday. Need to mount an upper above the fridge and the pantry before the pantry base. South window sill finished out at 9.5" which is plenty of room for a herb garden.

Well done.  Seems like I can already smell the cookies.

Looking good!  I like to see the flooring installed first so it runs under the cabinets.
