Patti & I want to thank everyone for the kinds words and encouragement and to let you know we are still happily married. Started demo April 15th.
I still have to build 4 floating shelves for each side of the sink. It will be a few days of cleaning the shop and looking for lost tools again but at least I'll be in the shop.
I think this is a good time to post some "then & now" photos. Again, thanks for following along.

You need to make another post since I can't like this one twice.  You now have the best looking kitchen in Soup City.  I know Patti is thrilled.

Despite how long it took (or maybe because of it) it really did turn out spectacular. Well done!

A project y'all should be proud of!  A huge difference

Wow Bob, you and Patti have been busy while I was away. MOST EXCELLENT planning, layout and execution.

Well done. Kudos to you both.

Having tasted the awesome goodies from the old kitchen, with the approaching holidays lots of folks are going to be receipients of some pretty tasty treats coming from that new kitchen.

I am the happy recipient of this years Christmas baking spree.  Bob brought me some cookies that Patti baked and they are excellent.  Here's a picture but mind you some are already missing.

I like those Bob.  Is surely would allow the room to feel larger than if cabinets had been installed.  Please let us know in 6 months to a year in how y'all like them.

Looks great Bob. If Patti's happy all is good. If she's still turning out those delicious treats then everything is GREAT!:P

Nice addition to the overall look.  I like it.

Very nice Bob. That is a spectacular kitchen now. What an amazing transformation !

These have been in place since around November. The countertop below the 4' shelf is where we prep food for cooking. The cabinets below contain pots, pans, knives, cutting boards & one drawer for gadgets. Drawers to the left of the stove contain spices & the right contain measuring cups. We set up the areas as workstations instead of sticking to the work triangle. There are less dishes on the 4'shelf now and more pasta & such containers, a little more convenient when cooking. It did take a while to remember what drawer we put things. It was never part of the plan to have a microwave & we both agree we don't miss it.

After using the kitchen, we both agreed that having a food pantry closer to the stove would be better. We removed the 4' floating shelves & installed a 36"x39" cabinet. This will become our primary pantry & save a few steps. All in all, we both have been enjoying the kitchen as often as we can. I cut the ends off of one shelf and installed them to the left of the cabinet, this matches the look with the other side of the window.
