I did actually finish my William and Mary table this past week, leaving time to (ugh) replace the faucet on our laundry try today. This is a drop-in tray in a cabinet so I'm thinking removing it and then changing the faucet is the least painful approach. Not sure how the res of the weekend will shape up...it probably depends on whether I can walk after the laundry tray episode. :PullingHair:

Here's the table, it took a fair amount of time to do the finishing. I used P&L 38 varnish, and gave it plenty of drying time.finished.JPG.4aea8222b8a4e7e55df48df4ce83b4f9.JPG

Did some tables and repairs at the furniture bank yesterday.   Brought home some end trimmings and made a rack to hold the drills on the tool cart.  Will make a second one today for the impact drivers.   Trying to keep it from becoming a heap of things.

I like the design.  Always thought hanging them would eventually leave marks in the plastic.

@Fred W. Hargis Jr That table is gorgeous!

Supposed to rain here on Saturday, maybe I'll get some shop time. Need to finish sanding the little bowl that's on the lathe.

Well the trimmings were 3.25" and 4" wide.   So I just went with the flow.  Before they were just in a pile of tools and batteries.  Most of the crew are retired engineers from papermaking, jet engines, and software.   I think the disorganization was starting to get to everyone but no one took the initiative.

Now, we're discussing tool racks or totes for the workbenches when we do table assemblies.  Hold glue, screws, clamps, and the drivers.

bringing this pile of target sticks to the range tomorrow (spring work day).  281 total.

The shop building is ready for insulation....finally. Ordered it yesterday. 45 rolls of encapsulated r13. It'll be secured on the metal walls with 3M 90 spray adhesive. That's been a bear to find. This pandemic is playing HEdouble hockysticks with the supply chains. Finally found a place in Germantown Wisconsin, but they need a business address to ship to. In process of trying to find an accommodating business.

I tried that but, this supplier is really particular. They say their info is that our address is only zoned residential. That's true.

The guy that does my vehicle maintenance has kindly agreed to accept the package and, the supplier has agreed to ship to him....whew. It'll probably be 3-4 weeks to get it, though. The supplier has none in stock and, has to get it direct from 3M. Have no idea which of their numerous locations handle the stuff.

Not exactly too sure, still waiting for my stone grinding wheel dresser to get here before I can start turning again.  I'm in debate on what I want to do with the Rusted Red Oak and White oak boards I had ordered from online with.  I still want to buy more lumber from them to some what get a stock pile of material going for later projects.  But lately wood prices have been extremely high what a joke.  You used to be able to et lumber quite cheaply.

quick joke:  2 guys go to the lumber yard to buy some lumber to build a house.  they say "we need some 2x4s"  "how long do you want them"  they look at each other for a moment, and then reply "about 40 years"

i'm here all week!!!

Tracking says ShopSmith will be delivered on Wednesday by UPS so last weekend before it shows up.  I need to hang the air-hose reel, look at installing a vise on the bench and maybe make a pattern made for the wooden jaws.  The vise will also need a handle so that may wait until I can turn one on the SS.

Looking at plans for a SS under cabinet.  Found one that looks easy enough and would be a good break-in project for SS.

Honey-do list has not yet been revealed, but my daughter is getting married in about a month, so I'm sure that extra chores are coming down from command.

Ugh Okay I wound up cutting up some of the Rusted Red Oak and some of the left over poplar board together and glued them up.  Not sure if the glue will be cured enough to have a decent weekend project.  Still working on the pepper mill for my step dad but that's a slow goer at the moment as well.  But the rusted oak and poplar look good paired together....   AND YES I wanted to play with the table saw some more.

I am not familiar with “rusted red oak”. Red oak is making a return around here after a blight that killed off whole mountain sides many years ago.

Well then it must just be plain red oak that's what the label on the website called it LOL.  Either way I like the color of it.

 Dewey, Stickem & Howe

Demo continues on the kitchen redo. Nails were a lot cheaper when the 70's remodel was done & that guy loved to put then in. Down to the original plaster walls & paint remnants of two cabinets, wall mounted faucet & backsplash. Hopes of refinishing the hardwood floors were quickly dashed, again, nails were cheap.

That looks kind of like "roasted" oak to me.  I've never seen any in person.
