July 7, 20206 yr Popular Post Got the bowl blanks in from Rockwell today got 2 of the Walnut Claro blanks and 2 of the Myrtle Wood blanks I believe. I think theyre 5 4 x 4 x 4 so that should be a decent amount of material to work with for the time being. I may have to order more.
July 7, 20206 yr Not a good day for me -- started some repair work at the furniture bank. Needed to deepen a couple of grooves on a drawer glide to replace a broken one. On the second pass, it kicked back and pulled my finger into the blade. It was on a SawStop so don't know whether that actually helped or not, though it did trigger the brake. Deep enough to nick the finger tip and semi detach a 1/4" chunk of skin and nail. Trip to ER and 3 hours later, x-ray and 4 stitches later headed home. I am not attaching the gory photo.

If you read the Hawai'ian newspapers, especially thegardenisland.com, Kaua'i's paper, you will see they are very concerned about containing the virus by limiting inbound tourists. Hawai'i does not have a robust health care system. Tourism is both a boon and a curse, and most Native Hawai'ians want to get back to the more peaceful way of life. 'O'ahu might be a better place to go. hat Ya know, vacations aren’t supposed to be this stressful. I’m guessing we will pull the plug on this.....again and maybe try this winter. Getting a Covid test in 72 hours is nearly impossible.

July 8, 20206 yr Popular Post Heat warning, DRINK water!!! Not tons of Gatorade unless you enjoy kidney stones. Good rule of thumb we used in Iraq. One regular size Gatorade to 8 bottles of water. Spent 3 yrs there and saw alot of people fall out for heat issues. Some died. Let's be careful out there people.

If you haven’t urinated in a couple of hours drink water. When finished look at urine it should be clear to light yellow without a strong smell. Drink the water over time (drink continuously). Don’t just slammed the fluids. Water is your best friend.

We had pee charts in military. Common phrase, clear no fear, yellow is a risky fellow. Odd side note from Iraq. Most heat casualties were office workers. Stayed in cold a/c all day then went outside. The 40+ degree difference hit them like a hammer. Those of us who worked outside, rare to see trouble. We watched out for one another.

Do you have a water filter Steven? Doesn't have to be a fancy expensive one. Our water out of the tap can reek of chlorine sometimes - like pool water A decent filter takes care of that. I drink a lot of water.
July 9, 20206 yr Popular Post Glued the face frame on last night. Progress last couple days has been slow. Drawers are all painted and slides back on.
