And I was thinking you had told someone a while back once you post a picture on here you can't take it back off.. and this sounded like one could not down load from here also... So I can down load them and use them somewhere else but I can not remove one, is that right? That's correct Jess, you can download images all day long from our community, but deleting images not possible, however, if you really feel strongly about an image, and wish it to be removed, just contact me or a forum host and we'll see about deleting that particular image(s). And the book, oh my the books! Firstly, what a spectacular daughter you have, and the book itself, from the image you posted of it, it looks very nice! Report
April 19, 20206 yr Author Popular Post comment_225733 This is how I experimented with making a rose. Each petal is scroll sawn with the grain up and down...time consuming but hey a carved rose might take a day or more carving one with a knife. Plus carving a rose the grain would be running side ways making it easy to break off pieces and not looking like petals as much... I wanted the leaves to hang over past the other things around it. And I can still add a petal here and there that might need it for looks. That was tricky but it worked out okay so when I get all the other pieces carved to suit I can color all the pieces if I choose , put a finish on, then glue all the pieces back together.... The base of the rose is 1" thick. I knew if I stacked the petals on top of 1" it would be too high up so I sliced it in to three pieces and then scroll sawed the insides away from the two shorter pieces. I needed the right height of a fence around the outside of the rose to hot glue the petals in so they would hang out over the leaves and things that is around the outside of the rose. Stacking the petals on top of the fence made the petals look more natural??? Report

April 30, 20206 yr comment_227047 That is very cool @Sherri. Have you also made books of your momma's stained glass projects? Every now and then we get a glimpse of her work Report
April 30, 20206 yr Author comment_227074 I can answer that question, yes she did, and these are some of the pictures Sherri added to moms book of stained glass things. I made the lion also. I made the frame around the Texas thingy from Bamboo flooring pieces..from experience, you don't want to run you figure along the edges of bamboo to see if your saw did a good smooth job for I pulled a sliver out of my finger barley large enough to see and it went in about 3/4" Report
