There is 8 boards sitting there, average size...4/4 x 6" x 54". End grain? Has some fancy-schmancy grain, too... Might be entertaining to use? Counting the 2 boards I already had....about..$15 sitting here. Might last a while? May see how some match up, maybe a book-match? Stay tuned. Cal, LarryS, HARO50 and 6 others 9 Quote

I vote chimney cupboard ( like I have a say, lol) but I'd like you to put some kinda fancy detail into it instead of just building it straightforward like you usually do Steven!! steven newman, HARO50, FlGatorwood and 4 others 6 1 Quote

Popular Post steven newman Posted January 11, 2020 Author Popular Post Report Posted January 11, 2020 Moose and Squirrel has delivered The Plans.... Front view... View of an end...little 1/2 round lip is the drawer's handle.. Drawer details....Paul does a drawer a bit different than me.. A cutting list....camera didn't pick out some of the stuff... As for the plank to be used ( yes, just one..) Sorted through the stack.... Mainly for the grain If it isn't wide enough...we can do a glue up or 2 Stay tuned.... Popular Post steven newman Posted January 14, 2020 Author Popular Post Report Posted January 14, 2020 Well, cleared all the stuff off the bench...even put some things away Going to need a bit of elbow room... Thought I had grabbed the wrong saw....used it anyway.. A front, a back, and a board to make both ends....Disston D-8, 11ppi....seemed to cut better than the Atkins No.65, 8ppi did. Which left this thing. Not quite long enough for two parts...have to decide whether this longer piece will be a base, or the lid...shorter end will be in the scrap pile.. Hmm...Long enough...and, after I joint both edges, will be wide enough...however... Cutting list says it is suppose the be 11/16" thick....caliper says mine is 0.998" thick.....will need to plane it down a bit...later. Other 3 pieces? They are for a front, a back, and both ends. The front is to be in two pieces, one a drawer front. Edges are a bit rough, so..jointed the better of the edges, the ripped for width, just a hair wider than the plan calls for... Final width is 3-1/2"...including the 2 pieces for the front....reset the fence...first to 3-1/2" strong...then the front is split... Back, 2 pc front, and the board for the two ends...all have to match each other width wise. But..like the lid/base board..these are way too thick..they need to be 1/2" thick...reset the tablesaw again fence is 9/16" away from the blade, blade is up as high as it will go.. Almost 1/2 way up....ran the parts through.. Time I plane the one, it will be 1/2" thick. Thinner piece can be used to build the drawer? Lowered the blade a bit, to make ripping the narrow parts safer..some had a pile on the bench.. Plane this smooth, check the ends for square...about ready to cut the dovetails, and the groove... And see about building a drawer..might have a Poplar piece to make the floor of the storage compartment... And, I kept some thinner stuff for the drawer build.. Maybe? Taking a break for Lunch....will see how the rest of the day goes.... Stay tuned.... Harry Brink, HARO50, Artie and 5 others 8 Quote
Popular Post steven newman Posted January 16, 2020 Author Popular Post Report Posted January 16, 2020 Kind of hobbled, right now.....right kidney has a 3mm stone....making the right side hurt....but.. Got some "Jointah" work done.. . Parts have been planed flat....ends squared up, the box's 2 end pieces cut to length of 5"... Parts stacked up...not sure which will be the drawer front.. Drawer front gets trimmed down to fit into the box....I did find 2 pieces to use as drawer sides, and the back... One side isn't too bad...the other is a bit rough.. Same 2 boards, just flipped over... waiting to hear when I see the Kidney Doctor....and get rid of that stone.. Stay tuned FlGatorwood, Harry Brink, Artie and 4 others 5 1 1 Quote
