Need a Froe

Featured Replies

If anyone has a froe they'd like to sell, or trade for something, let me know, been looking around the web and not finding much in my price range, over priced or cheaply forged, please leave image of your froe you'd like to give up. Thanks!

  • I found a heavy meat cleaver at an estate sale and use it as a froe.  It serves my purposes and might be easier to find and use while you search for the real thing.

They may, but I'd pass on froes made in China. Just something old and beat is fine, doesn't even have to have an edge on it. I had thought of making one out of an old lawnmower blade, may still.

One thing about Froes, they are not handed. Lefty, righty, just hold it how you want it. Kind of like a left handed screw driver.

Well I had to get a baseline idea of what price range we are talking about. :JawDrop:

I mean we all cannot have money to burn like  @Gene Howe and @steven newman

I checked, HF doesn't have one, but I did fill out the form suggesting it......:D

So the froe was in the left hand (I was asking whether the cutting tool with a wooden handle or the big wooden mallet thing was the froe. I had kinda figgered it was the cutting utensil, but thought I’d be funny. Didn’t expect anyone to take me seriously LOL. Got me a new word if I ever play Scrabble again)

Hey, just because I didn't insert emoji, didn't mean I took you seriously, I was laughing.

A leaf spring will do the trick.

I'll inquire about getting one tomorrow.  Think I saw a old one at the shop down the street.  They owe me a favor, fixed a Toyota with a wiring harness problem last week.:D

Depends on what your time is worth, and how good you are at metal working. I'm pretty sure that I have a new piece of metal that would work for it. A leaf spring or a mower blade isn't going to be flat.
