Yes, will have to see how much of a problem that is.  I've already done a bunch of routing of plywood and particle board and it does not seem too horrible yet.  I can always add trim strips later.  The gap is there because of the construction of the drawer glides that support the bottom of each drawer and the top of the one below it.   I made it so that once the top is removed, there are just two bolts on each corner and the sides and ends come apart and all the guide strips will just pull out.

 

It is still a "work in progress"  -- I have not decided if it needs dog holes, those metal clamping strips, or dovetailed strips to fit my new clamps that Santa is  bringing me for Xmas.

The deeper drawers I have made a sliding till for (shown in chisels and marking tools).   Others can be added as needed.   A plus is that the HF parts bins that I have have had for years and loaded with hardware fit perfectly (other photo)

I've also left open what to do with the 8-10" on the vise end.  It would be easy to add some shelves, etc, there.  Unfortunately, my roll of builder's paper is about 1" too long to fit in the gap, so it's going to have to hang outside.

 

Try it, fix it, do it.  It's a good model.

I have that stuff pulls on the 1st bench I built. Not bad but I won't use them again. Nor will I make a 8 ft long 24 inch deep 32 inch tall bench with wheels. My thought at the time was I would pull it out to get around all 4 sides. Yeah the beast is heavy and has only been pulled out to access the wall behind to run another outlet.
