July 5, 20205 yr Author Popular Post Just came off the street from the front of our home, our entire neighborhood was one big fireworks display, and music, it was great seeing Americans celebrating as I remember as a kid. Fireworks are illegal where we live, but everyone threw caution to the wind, I even purchased a big box of "Safe and Sane" fireworks out of town and brought em in, the heck with it, just tired of being told what to do, and we had a great time! Not a single patrol car ventured into our hamlet. Hope everyone here had a wonderful day, and safe, and sane!

They started out putting a few Chinese Lanterns up. No wind so it was the perfect night for it. They looked nice and it took about 15 minutes for them to float out of site. July 5, 20205 yr Popular Post The BBQ was wonderful. Nine couples. Each brought a couple side dishes. The hosts smoked apricot soaked chicken legs and grilled hamburgers. As usual, there was more food than could possibly be consumed. Everyone took something home we brought home 3/4 of a Strawberry Rhubarb pie. Due to the dry weather conditions, there were no fireworks but, all the flags were all flying proudly. The highlight of the evening was an 80 year old lady's beautiful rendition of America. It was a great evening. Edited July 5, 20205 yr by Gene Howe
July 5, 20205 yr Popular Post Spent the evening with some good friends. Told funny stories from both the military and our work in our wood shops. Was a good evening. Most all the neighbors around my friends house torched off fireworks so we had a barrage for about an hour all around us. Glad I don't have any mess to clean up.
July 3, 20214 yr Author This 4th of July, we'll be staying home and enjoying what our local town has to offer, and of course barbecue. We have our youngest daughter home from the Army for the weekend, we are truly blessed to have all three of our children in one place this 4th of July. We hope you all have an enjoyable time this 4th, and be safe in all you do! The Morris Family: Left to right, Oldest daughter Cynthia, Army girl PFC Tiffany Morris, Mrs. Morris and Son Jeroid behind her, and myself, the eraser head. From all of us to all of you, HAPPY 4th of JULY! Photo is from the Hwy 243 overlooking the Banning valley below, with the San Bernadino Mountain range in the back ground, to the right out of the image a few miles down the road you'd see the windmills along the I-10 towards Palm Springs, just a little extra info for the folks who are familiar with this area. We visited my dad yesterday, photo above is after we left his place, and the image below is 88yr old dad standing next to his new chicken coop he built. He grew up on a farm in the Catskills of New York pre WWII and as a child he learned how to use what you have on hand to get the job done. So he went to building this coop with only the scrap wood he had on hand, the only thing he had to purchase was the wire, and the chickens. He paid for the chickens ahead of time and our kids picked them up at the feed store and delivered them, 4 Road Island Reds, and within a week they are laying. The partners in crime! The crime families hideout. This was probably the highlite of our weekend already, it's always fun to go up to Dad's and see how he's doing, and he got a chance to see his Army grand-daughter and she him! Happy 4th ya'll!!!!

Don't whine Pete, they say (on my machine) July 5, 2020... All this time I thought that it was Abe Lincoln that said we couldn't believe everything we read/see on the internet. Going by this threads title, 7-4-1776, maybe it was Geo Washington? Smart guys, both of them! Edited July 4, 20214 yr by Cal

July 4, 20223 yr Popular Post Happy 246th Birthday to our Constitutional Republic. Lots of bruises, wounds, scars, warts and all, but we're still beautiful. May God bless us for another 246 years. Miss Kate believed it. No one sang it like she did.
July 4, 20223 yr Author Popular Post What in interesting story behind the painting! Archibald MacNeal Willard (August 22, 1836 – October 11, 1918) was an American painter who was born and raised in Bedford, Ohio. He was the son of Samuel Willard, the pastor of Bedford Baptist Church, and his wife. Willard joined the 86th Ohio Infantry in 1863 and fought in the American Civil War. During this time, he painted several scenes from the war and forged a friendship with photographer James F. Ryder. Willard painted The Spirit of '76 about 1875 in Wellington, Ohio, after he saw a holiday parade pass through the town square. Willard also painted three murals in the main hall of the Fayette County courthouse in Washington Court House, Ohio: The Spirit of Electricity, The Spirit of Telegraphy, and The Spirit of the Mail. July 4, 20223 yr We live in the greatest country in the world, but I fear that many do not know or understand what freedoms and rights they have. Our rights to be free come from: God The Magna Carta The Declaration of Independence The Constitution of the United States The Bill of Rights But those rights have been provided and protected by the sacrifice and blood of: Jesus Christ American Soldiers Law Enforcement Officers Our independence is but one step away from the evil of those within and outside our borders. Many of us are too complacent and are like sheep following the wolf to slaughter. We must not only hold the ideals that our (not government's) nation was founded upon, but we must also stand against those wishing to destroy our country, our ideals, our freedoms, and eventually ourselves. Celebrate this 4th of July with the mindset that you will not stand behind our neighbors, our police, our soldiers, but rather alongside them as comrades in arms. ---------------- Please visit us at http://ForeverFree.host and sign up for our weekly commentaries (they are free)
July 4, 20223 yr Author Our house The rest of our neighbors I'm absolutely not saying you need to fly the flag to prove you're an American, but at least one other flag on our street maybe? We do live in Kommiefornia after all.
July 4, 20223 yr Popular Post Same here in my neighborhood. HOWEVER: I did have several neighbors drop by and say hello, and a thank you.

July 4, 20223 yr Popular Post So this is a picture of Fleming Crafts storefront, (and also domicile). We just finished a 2 year envelope project (took longer due to covid). All vinyl siding, no where left to put a flagpole holder. So I decided to do this to hang a flag (and show the other owners it’s still possible to fly a flag).
