I see your point. So he can paint the saw horse legs. Still have some dark purple left, oil base even. This way nobody can steal it and say oh that's mine. Probably keep anyone from asking to borrow it as well.
March 29, 20197 yr Popular Post more ribs are a plus... on the top side you do your rude/crude cutting, assembly and what not... on the bottom side you add felt strips to protect your finished project for when you flip the table over to work on a good platform.. BUT you must remember to clean/vacuum the felt BEFORE you set your project on the table... don't bother asking why I mention this... other ideas for a cutting table...
March 29, 20197 yr I just lay a sheet of paper backed rigid foam insulation board on my bench and cut. Ain't no way this old man is gonna manhandle a sheet of ply through the table saw. BTDT but, no more. BTW, the 2" insulation board is stiff enough to span a couple saw horses. Us simple guys have simple ways Edited March 29, 20197 yr by Gene Howe

I'm no foam expert but the stuff I use is 2 5/8 thick, yellow in color covered with heavy paper and, very, very dense. Nothing like that light weight white foam. I get it from a metal building supply house. If you're interested, I can call them to get the particulars.

I looked it up and it is extruded polystyrene. The Kingspan site has pictures that show it with a green plastic covering . My stuff has a thick, kraft paper like covering. But, the stuff between Kingspan's sheets is yellow, like mine.

I think that plywood came out before portable saws and it was a bear to cut a sheet with a hand saw. Also a lot of the first circular saws were under powered and had small blades.
