Forget legs - that's the biggest darn tick I've ever seen!:JawDrop:   On the bright side, you wouldn't have to look so close if'n it was on you, right?

On one of my hikes through a state park here:

Well, inquiring minds want to know what they present? Their teeth? Leftover legs to make shoes?

Well, in the sense that a dog might leave you "a present" in the yard... that gator on the sign looks like it might be ready to leave you a present!

This bad boy was found about 75 miles from here, estimated at 750# and 50 years old.

That is a bigun!

Louisiana, typically, produces them in this size. I used to run a custom made 14' extra wide flat in the Honey Island Swamp located on the LA/MS line east of New Orleans. I have seen more than one alligator longer than my boat. The last I knew, the state record was 19' 2". A 13 footer will typically tip the scales around 700-750#.

My nephew's FIL does the critter captures for the St Tammany Parish Sheriffs Office. Howard has two alligators in his back yard. One is a blind gator that was aged at around 85. This gator was around 14' 8". The second one was an alligator that he raised from a hatchling. It was 1" shy of 15'.

Howard does a lot of education activities with the kids in the area.

Well they can be worn walking on the reef and fishing. Gotta watch out for other wildlife in the sea too!

The blue-ringed octopus is deadly and small, and there are stonefish........ <sigh>.
