Here you go, I will start out slow. Here is the toolbox. Not a work of art, but it was very functional until 5 gallon bucket and tool bag came along.

Like a true woodworker, you look around for free material.  The handle is a closet pole that was surplus, & never got a splinter from it and the varnish made it very comfortable to carry.

  • I really am not much for a plan.  Most of them go sideways 10 seconds after they get started so what's the point?  I work off the principle of just make it up as I go along.  Now if you want people to

A classic...always a project for a DIY'er...wish I had the one my grandpa made. And yes, you're right, replaced in the "new world" order with plastic & canvas.

There is a lot of history in American railroads, settling the west in the 1800's , & the government.  Believe it or not, locomotives were the last piece of equipment that you did not have to be licensed for in order to operate one.  Ships, cranes, all heavy equipment required government licenses, but nothing was required to be a locomotive engineer.  The lawyers loved this, whenever a train hit a car/truck or derailed and caught on fire...

As opposed to New Zealand, where we have a few extinct ones that blew out, and a few active ones still going......

I haven't seen any in my limited travels so far, at least not like that. Shark and jellyfish signs yes, not the croc ones where I've been. The snakes, spiders and ants I suspect aren't signs except maybe in a wildlife park, but I stand to be corrected.

@Stick486 You should totally come for a visit! You could enjoy such road signs as "legs", which were the funniest thing to us when we came here the first time (just visiting at that stage).

Forget legs - that's the biggest darn tick I've ever seen!:JawDrop:   On the bright side, you wouldn't have to look so close if'n it was on you, right?

Steve, have you decided when to take your first 'walk-about'?  For the Northerners, a walk-about is an Aussie thing where an individual just decides he is going to go and 'walk about' the country in Australia. Having a job has no bearing.  Walk-abouts are for extended periods of time and can be 6 months or longer.  It is kind of like being a California free spirit but you don't have the California high cost of living and you get plenty of unique road signs and multi legged animals to see...

Pedestrian crossing.

Back in New Zealand we have striped poles with an orange light globe on top.

Going walkabout is typically an Aboriginal thing rather than something all Australians do - it's a cultural part of their life.

From Wikipedia:

In Australian Aboriginal society, Walkabout is a rite of passage during which males undergo a journey during adolescence, typically ages 10 to 16, and live in the wilderness for a period as long as six months to make the spiritual and traditional transition into manhood.

I'm pretty sure I'd have all sorts of issues if I went walkabout, not the least being SWMBO!
