My favorite Mr Twain saying.    “ All people bring joy. Some by their arrival, others by their departure. “

I've always liked "The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why."

did they count 2000 as a leap year?  it wasn't!

Century years are not normally counted as leap year unless the number is divisible by 400, so 2000 was a leap year.  I well remember it as we discussed it to make sure that my data bases counted the days correctly.  The only critical thing that I had to know was how to count a Julian date.  It consists of the last 2 digits of the year and the 3 day number of day of the year.  So, in Visual Basic and Access, it was the 2 digit year, formula =today's date minus January 1 plus 1 to account for January 1.  Today's date would be 19035.  The other date systems just followed the computer clock.  That programming was easy.

i stand corrected.

in that case, off by one day.  close enough.

In the over all scheme of life, it's not even a road bump.  We passed it without a hitch just like all those hours I spent testing computers and software to ensure that Y2K didn't give us serious problems.  That was a real problem.  I spent many long days giving extra hours without pay to make the codes work and replace almost new computers whose bios would not count above 2000.  Hundreds of desk computers.  Water under the bridge and the bridge is still strong.
