Good Monday Morning!

Good Monday morning Patriot Woodworkers! What did you get done over the weekend, and what have you planned for the week ahead! Inquiring minds want to know. Please tell us what's happening in your shops, your life, and any events going on with you. Thank you for being here folks!

Our Wiki

tpw_wiki_logo.png

Recently while poking around the software that I use for our wiki, I found an interesting feature that I implemented for our "American Woods" Project. Before, the pages for each of our trees where scattered about and un-linked to one another. So the reader would have to back out of each page and find another page in the American Woods category.

Now we have a structured page with a table of contents for each page in this category thus far.

We almost have all the conifers entered into this project, and soon I'll be moving onto the hardwoods.

While perusing this subject, you can now click on the little forward arrow from any page within the "American Woods" project and be taken to the next page. This may seem like a big "duh" to most folks, but within this open source freeware, things like this are hard to come by and often times difficult to configure.

See image below, click on the little forward arrow at this page: https://thepatriotwoodwiki.org/The-American-Woods-Project

Glossary of Woodworking Joints

This page is getting a fun little addition as well, if you go to https://thepatriotwoodwiki.org/Glossary-of-Woodworking-Joints

You'll see some of the joints have a little dotted underline at the word. For example see "Bridle". The first joint in the Glossary, now hover your cursor over "Bridle". You should see a graphic appear that shows a "Bridle" joint.

Growth Range Maps

California Incense-Cedar Range Map.png

Several of our tree pages in the "American Woods" category are getting "Growth Range Maps". Eventually all the tree pages will have Growth Range Maps, you'll see a map at the right side of the page, below the info box. See just a few of the following pages that now have this handy addition, that lets you know where these trees are in our nation.

I just happened to think, while looking at the Featured Image, I realized, given the date of 1912, many of these young men would have entered into WWI, yet while sitting there and enjoying this lecture, they never had any idea what was to befall each of them, in just a few short years.

I have one active project going on right now, a small corner table destined for the upstairs bathroom.  I am in the short rows with it now, fixing to apply some poly to all the pieces and parts.  I have several other projects in line, some outside, some house remodeling - some automotive, some woodworking, some landscaping.  Plus I want to learn how to make decals of the type @Larry Buskirk makes.  I think I have a busy winter, spring and summer lined up...

Great picture John.

Guests left Saturday. Son and family arrived that afternoon. They're leaving today. I've got a Dr. appt. @ 08:20. By the time I get home it'll be nap time. I guess Tuesday starts my shop week. B)

Not much planned. Been messing around with some bowl sanding devices. Need to do a general shop cleanup.

Started making inside out vase how to as requested.  Lots of pictures and will be done this week.  Hopefully.

Weekend: Conference Swim Finals were rescheduled to this coming Saturday due to the heavy snow Saturday; Spent time both Saturday & Sunday PM rearranging the snow; didn't like the initial placement. Church Youth Group chili cook-off after services yesterday was a lot of fun with lots of good chili (and other foods too). I volunteered to be one of the judges; got extra rations of chili by doing so.:P

Errands to do yet today and throughout the week; tomorrow night is the last home swim meet for the season; bitter-sweet as it's also Senior Recognition night; the past seven swim seasons for the oldest sure have flown by it seems.:( Some errands and business to conduct at various times for my step-father also this week.

I think Ron, because education was not taken for granted in those days, they felt pretty special showing up to college, thus shirt and tie, I think. These days a college education is more of an entitlement than a privilege.

Cal,

When I get the PC build close enough to finished, I'll post a tutorial about making the decals.

I may be making a couple for the PC build if I can find the files I need.

I've also got to remember to get ink for the printer.

Still finishing up small details on router table build.  Have to cut some Lexan and drill holes for vents at the bottom of the router.  As of yet still no decision on what type of finish on outside of drawer. Paint? Poly?  several ideas so far stuck with paralysis by analysis.  :JawDrop:

I will be waiting, thinking about making up my own tool company name for my router table build.  Would be cool to name it and have it on side of cabinet.
