Good Monday Morning!

Good Monday morning Patriot Woodworkers! What did you get done over the weekend, and what have you planned for the week ahead! Inquiring minds want to know. Please tell us what's happening in your shops, your life, and any events going on with you. Thank you for being here folks!

Community News

I want to thank those who have contributed thus far to our Annual Adopt a Wounded Warrior Family for Christmas Project.

The first two weeks and we have already met our goal! I want to thank those who have participated thus far, and all our cheerleaders who have been rooting us on.

We have met our goal, and that is a very special milestone, I did not think we were going to hit it this soon. Many of the gifts were purchased this past weekend, and I'll be pulling the lever on more tonight.

Though we have met our goal, there is still time to enter if you wish, the draw happens on New Years. Any funds collected over our goal, will be sent to the family in the form of a check. All funds for this project are used for this family.

During my research on Axes, I found a company that sells axes, and they have a really nice exploration article into the History of the Axe. I enjoyed reading it.

  • Went to check on the DC bag and empty the can.  Found a mess of dust everywhere.  Seems a small crack opened up into a larger crack and a pencil sized hole was in the plastic suction tube.  SOOOOOO.

Today is my oldest granddaughter’s 18th Birthday.  The years have flown by and she’ll be in college next fall.   My original plan for the week has been destroyed thanks to the great economy.  I have to deliver a bookcase that I just finished to a local church tomorrow and then start making cherry waffle trivets to restock my Etsy store.  I’ve sold 19 of them in December and only have 5 left in stock.  Guess it is a good problem to have.

continuing to work on filling Christmas orders that we have been blessed beyond measure with.

I'm off from the Shooting range today, so I'll be in the shop all day. Most of the day will be working on getting the CNC to engrave the initials in the mirrors. Oh should I say, me getting the CNC figured out enough to make sure I know what it is doing.

No shop time today. Gotta get a hair cut in town. Then, get the truck professionally cleaned. Taking it to Tucson due to needing to haul a bunch of stuff to my sons. Plus gifts. And Phyl won't ride in a dirty truck. By the time I get back home, the day is shot. Tuesday is another day, though. One more day and, the shop will be totally re organized and ready for new adventures.

The shop needs a few things put away before the next project.  I just finished up some vases for Christmas gifts.

Headed for the range to test the new Sig P320 compact RX and then deliver some Christmas which I am finally finished with and then a PT appt.

I will be finishing up on a sanding disc organizer system I saw in a reader's tips in Woodsmith magazine.  Then to clean up the shop a little.  Next, I have a chunk of mesquite that I will be starting to turn a bowl from.  Since my truck is broke down, all I have is the Malibu, and I can't haul much wood in that, so I am focusing on turning for the time being.  After we recover from Christmas, I will see about getting the truck fixed so that I can start that tool chest I posted about back when I first joined TPW.  Depending on what's wrong with the truck, and that is a long horror story for another post, I may just sell it for parts and use my tax refund on another truck.

Today (Monday) is a Mom day. Appointments, groceries, etc. Did finish up a pen kit for a Christmas present and will deliver another present tomorrow.

still on ADA...

Normal stuff...IF we get 3 consecutive days of sunshine counting tomorrow, may try to do some leave mulching...never done that in December before. Only one swim meet this week which is away.

Wednesday taking my step-father to a specialist for exam and tests. Number of other errands and small tasks prior to the weekend.

BTDT Tom about this time a year ago so know your pain. Not a Ford with a 4.6L or 5.4L Triton by chance?

Had the opportunity last week and got them cleaned up.  There are still many blowing around but at least I got the yard cleaned.  Should be the last time this year hopefully.

Monday....about says it all.   Shop is closed for the day....other than the vise rebuild, no projects to do.....maybe after the first of the year, eh?

Can't offer much help there...sorry to hear though...certainly can empathize...always something it seems isn't it?

What's the truck doing Tom?

I've been through most of the 5.9L (360 Cu. In.) problems with my 2000 Ram.

As to what I'm doing, working on the computer build.

Went to check on the DC bag and empty the can.  Found a mess of dust everywhere.  Seems a small crack opened up into a larger crack and a pencil sized hole was in the plastic suction tube.  SOOOOOO.  Took it out to clean it up and found some rust.  Have no idea how old the thing is so since I had the time I cleaned it up and gave it some nice oil based grey paint.  Gaskets can be made from weather stripping so nothing but wait on paint to dry and reassemble.  Still not getting a new one....

Also gave another coat of poly to a small add on for my clamps.  Gives me 8 more clamps I can store.

It will idle, roughly, but won't drive.  When I give it some gas, the engine shakes badly and has no power.  I don't think it is anything serious because it hasn't been all that long since I was able to go get gas and pick up some wood from the local lumber yard.  I think it might be a vacuum leak or a disconnected hose, but I'm not much of a mechanic.

Follow up on range trip yesterday. This Sig shoots great. Learned that Sig sets optics at factory for combat, that is sight at the 12 o'clock and will hit at the six o'clock. after getting used to that can empty a mag at a 8 inch steel at 25 yards and hit most , oh by empty I mean as fast as I can get the shoots off. This is one sweet gun and I can see my ammo costs going up.

or a sensor..
