Popular Post John Morris Posted December 16, 2018 Author Popular Post Report Posted December 16, 2018 Just read the reviews on the new style casters and folks seem to like them a whole bunch. I'll need to remove the existing axle and wheel assembly, drill new holes up about an inch and three quarters, then remount the axle assembly with the new casters. The added inch diameter needs to be accommodated for thus the reason to move the axle assembly up. New users of the casters state they are moving their machine around with ease. Next will be a breathing tax. Hey you Kalifornians, there's a whole real world a bit east of ya. C'mon over. Just cross the Colorado River and we're fine. 8 more years for us Gene, retire, and we are outta here, like our friends the Worshams. Just gotta find a place where we are welcome, may have to wrap our plates in a rag as we travel through so we don't get tomatoes thrown at us as we drive through towns. Do the new ones still use the over-center (???) springs? I assume those springs act as an assist to lock/unlock versus some type of cushioning suspension? Never seen a set-up quite like that. I do have a set of the first picture Wood River wheel set (bought from Woodcraft 3-4 y/o) I installed on my old Craftsman TS. They work well. John Morris and Cal 2 Quote

I think they are more of an assist Gramps in letting the machine down lightly when the star lever is kicked to down position, then when you want to move the machine, you kick the star lever to raise it up. Grandpadave52 Posted December 16, 2018 Report Posted December 16, 2018 Thanks...that picture clears it up. Those casters being wider, larger diameter and the composition will make a big difference. If I had the space/place I'd own a SS... Saw this deal on CL yesterday. John Morris and Cal 2 Quote

I love mine, been kicking the tires with small honey do's around the home, and I am quite happy with it. There is a trade off, between stationary and the Smith, but if space is an issue, and you are willing to have an open mind over it, it's a great little machine. Remember, you can roll out to the backyard and do your work, you can roll onto the job-site, you only need a small corner to store it and cover it. Grandpadave52, Cal and HARO50 3 Quote
Popular Post Gene Howe Posted December 16, 2018 Popular Post Report Posted December 16, 2018 On our honeymoon, back in 71, we traveled a bit in CO. Saw numerous signs reading "DO NOT CALFORNICATE COLORADO". They didn't work apparently, as Colorado is now known as Eastern California. It's sad. Stick has the right idea. Oh jeez Stick, lawsuits, thee worse state in the union, right here in good ol Kali. Yep, we lead the nation in lawsuits. I worked for a man after I got out of the Army in 91', building cabinets and custom furnishings, Tom Gumbold, he was from St. Paul, Minnesota, he and I were talking about how ridiculous the lawsuits in Kali are, he made a wonderful comparison. Tom stated "Where I come from if you walk down the sidewalk and trip on a crack or uneven concrete, and fall down and bust your face, I think, man, what an idiot I am for not seeing that crack! Here in Kali, they walk down the sidewalk and fall and bust their face, they call the lawyer and sue the city". It's definitely a different mind set for many here. HARO50 and Cal 2 Quote

I got sued 4 times so far because of having my property posted and not letting them in to do as they please.. they say I have no right to bar them from MY property... I did manage to get trespassing, ''poaching'' and destruction of private property charges to stick on 3 of them... Edited December 16, 2018 by Stick486 p_toad, Cal, Gene Howe and 2 others 1 4 Quote
