Herb In California we have more regulations than you can shake a stick at. We used to have really good weed/lawn spray that would kill everything off with 1 treatment. But now we have watered down spray that has little bite. That's why it takes multiple sprayings to get the same results from the original recipie weed killer. It is kind of like using a nail file instead of an axe to chop down a tree.

If you have any friends/ connections in the Agricultural field, you might be able to obtain a higher concentration of Round-Up or Generic Glyphosate through them. Fortunately, living in rural Indiana, I still can go to farm supply stores and buy concentrated Glyphosate, 2-4D-Ester and similar. I use for weed control in fence rows, driveway and other areas where I do not want vegetation growing. I would be concerned about run-off considering how steep your hillside is and proximity to your dwelling...How do you control erosion without some vegetation growing particularly when you have heavy rains?

Since you have to spray multiple times, I have to ask, What would be worse- the full strength version or having to be exposed to the same stuff multiple times to get the same result? To me, it is the knee jerk reaction by a bunch a politicians who all sitting on a park bench couldn't make a beer fart in a whirl wind. Look at Woodcraft's website -EVERY item they sell has a Proposition 65 warning on it - this item has 'things' know to cause cancer in the State of California. Nothing against Woodcraft, but the darn lawyers make them do this. Ok, I will get off of my one legged soap box Edited March 18, 20179 yr by Chips N Dust

Never seemed effective on Canadian Thistle either...in the drive way, always tracking it where you don't want it...I've tried variations of liquid calcium chloride but my sprayer nozzles don't much care for it.

March 18, 20179 yr Popular Post Work! Can ya believe it, got to work Sat and Sun, gonna be a long week behind and ahead. But it's all good, wife and I decided when our Freshman daughter started college this past fall, in addition to other finances allocated, my overtime pay will go completely to college funding for the next 10 years, we'll have three kids in college over the next 10 years and we figure if we dedicate the OT pay, it'll help a bunch. Needless to say I jump on any overtime pay work when it comes available. So I got a straight two week pull with weekends on. Silver lining, I can sleep in a little bit, since the surveyor I am going in with this weekend, and I, agreed to sleep in a tad at least, instead of our typical show up time of 6am, we'll show up at 8am, for the weekend only. In our office, we have a small traffic cone that is about 12" tall, and waaaay back in the day, someone wrote "Overtime King" on it, so whoever scores the most overtime in a given pay period, gets the honor of having the OT traffic cone place over their desk. I'm the owner of that award lately! But I don't feel too bad, since our survey crews have lost many of our old timers due to retirement, there seems to be a shortage of men to jump on the overtime train, we have a bunch of young guns working for us these days, and they don't seem to like that overtime, and sometimes it gets downright hard to find someone to come in when needed, not in the old days, it was a different work ethic, "get er done", has turned into, "do I have too?". Out to the highway I go, see ya'll later, and it's great to see the wonderful projects you all are doing for your weekend!

But it is very difficult for the State Government to prosecute you for it as we have so many earthquakes which causes the sticks to shake. I would be concerned about run-off considering how steep your hillside is and proximity to your dwelling...How do you control erosion without some vegetation growing particularly when you have heavy rains? I have no problems with erosion control as the ground is so hard on the slope the water runs right off it. All the landscape guys carry jack hammers to dig holes for planting as we have a very high clay base in our local dirt. Also due to earthquakes you would not believe how strong the retaining walls are required to be. On top of that the drainage control at the base of the retaining wall has 4" perforated pipe buried in pea gravel that is connected to 4" underground pipe that goes out to the street. We have no lawn in our back yard as it is all concrete with brick accents and planters with 8 drains. So in our 16 years in our home we have never had any problems.

I used to have this same problem. I would ask guys if they wanted to work the coming weekend and I would get the legitimate, family and I are doing something and then I would get the him/haw, do I really have to. So I would say nope, go do what you want to do. The week, if I got the same response, I would stop asking that person. Usually by the 4th time we worked on a weekend, they would come to me and ask why I didn't ask them. I would then have to explain to them that if they really did not want to be there, then I didn't want them there and since I always got the him/haw answer, I was not going to waste my time asking them anymore. After that, they would usually be good for the rest of the summer.
