@Grandpadave52, you and I should start our own donut website! Keep these greedy gluttons out of it. Call it "Dave & John's Donut Forum". Get Dunkin' Donuts, Tim Hortons, et al as sponsors. We'll show 'em! :D

Sounds like Jay wants to join in too John...KK's never did that well this far North either but I'm telling ya' you go to the Southern states and the original recipe is still alive & well.:P Kinda' like Shoney's...when they moved North of the Mason / Dixon line, the quality dropped...in their heyday, Shoney's Big Boy was all that in the south...loved it...

I've got a secret donut vendor too...been in business since 1962...same family...open daily Monday-Friday 5A-5P; Saturday 5A-1P...only serve two commodities...every kind of fresh made daily donuts you can image; black coffee; sugar or cream by request; decaf is frowned upon, but available...almost need reservations from 5A-NOON every day...traffic gets backed up with people trying to get around the drive-through...start making donuts every morning ~3:30A...just typing about it, may have to stop-in on visit to nursing home this week...

or here... most of their shops have failed...

you had to eat at least six 7-11 Chile dogs w/ nacho cheese and hot sauce to get the taste and film of grease out of your mouth...

sounds like the Donut Mill... only not as good...

place closes when they run out of Donuts... often by 13/14:00...

Kispy Kremes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, guys those are some really nasty dognuts! Their glazed remind me of the rings at a carnival ring toss, only the rings probably had a better taste. They were dense and had this nasty tasting glaze on them. The other kinds weren't much better.

The best ones came from the local mom and pop makers. Hot and fluffy glazed with no aftertaste, or forcing you to find something to kill that aftertaste for the rest of the day like the KK's.

If someone showed up with a box of KK's at work, they were generally still some there at the end of the day. Buy a box from the local guy and they didn't last two hours. To each his own...then, again, not everyone can be a connoisseur!

keep working and dreaming

Repelled - lost count a long time ago...

It's that row of pikes you have placed there....  :D

@Jay, I want to apologize for the way your thread has been hijacked. As a precaution, please refrain from mentioning a certain round pastry with a hole in the middle, as the mere hint of one will send @Stick486 into a tailspin!  Again, I apologize on his behalf. ;)

Nice job Jay and now you are on your way. All it takes is one project to get it going.

Thanks for posting it.

Great idea, Jay...your project looks good...

Keep an eye on your donuts...these guys are like a pack of donut raptors...one will distract you and the others will feed...
