SInce the gym is crazy on Saturdays, I'll probably run a couple of miles this afternoon.

Ron, are you really running? This is awesome!

Yep it does...invest in a Step Counter...inexpensive at Waldo World...you'll be amazed at the distances you cover in a week...

Not a bad idea Gramps, I may have to do that, I have always been curious how far my feet travel in a typical week, month. That would be fun.

Haven't had a ton of time in the shop lately but finished up a couple I things in past week. My wife wanted a picture for over our bed and actually let me make one that isn't painted and distressed for a change. Also finished up a dresser for my son which turned out pretty good.

This weekend I am finally starting to mill all this cherry that is hiding my workbench to get started on a blanket chest. About half of this cherry has nice curl to it so I won't mind the milling process this go round. Also have to finish up a panel sled because my crosscut sled can only handle 18 inches and the chest panels will be 24 inches.

Or I could be on the way to the hospital at any point for the birth of my second son any minute now. Wife is at 38 weeks so getting close. Will be a busy weekend either way.

Great job on the picture frame and the dresser. Looking forward to seeing pictures of your blanket chest.

Congratulations to you and your wife on your second child!!

Fred, you guys are making me feel well, un-healthy!

But if I can count the many miles I walk each week at work up and down rugged terrain and the sides of highways, does that count for exercise? I am walking semi briskly, with a purpose.

Grandpa beat me to it, but it does indeed count. Probably exceeds what I do on a daily basis, but when you're retired you have to improvise.

When Shep was a pup, I used to run about 3 to 5 miles a day so because of that I cannot run on a treadmill.  Must be a coordination thing.

Could also be that you and shep BOTH will not fit on tread mill at the same time.  Yep, makes running hard I would think.

Went to the furniture bank this morning to mentor volunteers building tables from kits we made.  Had 3 ww club members and 5 volunteers.   We got about much done as the 3 of us did on Wednesday in a the same or less time.   ;-)

Saw The "Furniture Bank of Central Ohio is one of the sponsors apparently this season of The American Woodshop (Scott Phillips)...at least on the episode I saw today...

Fred, Shep and I are both bigger than we used to be.  It seems to me that the treadmill isn't as soft on the knees as the road is.

Yes, the Cincinnati one is much smaller (about 10 years later in its progress).   We took a field trip up there a couple of weeks ago.  Impressive place.

I had noticed that as well on one episode. I think it was last year he (Phillips) did an episode on the place, the first tie I heard of them. He then took on of there dressers and covered it with wood veneer; he said it would be sold and the proceeds would go to them.

It depends John.  If I'm on the treadmill, I'll fast walk at about 4.2 MPH for around 45 minutes.  Usually, I can cover almost 3 miles including the 5 minute cool down and the incline that I walk at.  When Shep was a pup, I used to run about 3 to 5 miles a day so because of that I cannot run on a treadmill.  Must be a coordination thing.  Since the Y is crazy busy on the weekends, I did 2 miles today.  Ran 1/2 mile, walked 1/2 mile/ ran 1/2 mile and walked the last 1/2 as a cool down.

I've lost 12 pounds in 3 1/2 weeks and my blood pressure is back where it should be.  Now if the glucose tests come back solid in 2 months........

That's awesome news Ron, your going to be so healthy, sometimes these little warnings have a way of snapping us back don't they? I bet you feel great.
