Friday, Oct 7th, What's on Your Patriot Woodworker Agenda?

Featured Replies

I took my wife to work today and it is her birthday, they had her office all decorated when she got there.

We have a First Friday show todo tonight, so we went out and had dinner last night to celebrate.

I have been working as much as possible on getting things moved around in the shop and hopefully back to some kind of order soon. Just a week or so ago, Ron can attest, there was lumber piled up in the floor next to the table saw and you could hardly move through this section.

IMG_7090.jpg

So I have managed to clear out all of this and get it stored on the lumber rack in the storage room.

IMG_7098.jpg

I still have a few bins to build to put the short pieces in, but for now they are okay where I have put them.

This corner used to be where I kept all of my sheet goods.

IMG_7089.jpg

It was leaning on the back of the shelf. All of the sheet lumber has been moved into the storage room now and a lot of it was thinned out.

IMG_7099.jpg

Now the shelf in the shop has been turned around and cleaned off and the router table moved back to give a little more walking room.

IMG_7095.jpg

So this weekend we will be working on finishing the office so the filing cabinets and barrister cases can go into the office and clear out a little more space.

Most of the mess is in the back corner now and on the assembly table and back work bench. The other DC will go away as soon as I can do some duct work to make a drop at the planner.

My big DC is now hooked up and located in the storage room.

I am close to getting back to some kind or organization and it has taken a lot longer than I wanted. I have missed checking in here but have spent as much time as I can trying to get this all back together.

That is pretty much my plans for the weekend and next week, what is on your agenda? We here at TPW love to hear about and see all of the great projects you are working on and this is a good place to share you weekend plans.

Please post those pictures and project and share with the other woodworkers, who knows you might just inspire someone else to give it a try.

Well, I finished up the toy cars for the "shoe boxes". They ordered 25 large and 25 small and since it's for the kids we're adding another 3 of each size.

You know, I love to sell things, but as long as I cover show cost, I love to meet and talk to people. I have met some interesting people at shows and made a lot of new friends. I get offers for wood a

Thanks and have fun in the snow. It is 88 here today so snow will not be happening!

I have signed up for a small craft show, something I've not done before. Trying to get some more ornaments and tops turned. Also trying to line up exactly what I'll need, i.e. table, shelves, bags, business cards, etc. etc. It will  be a learning experience for sure

Sounds like you got a pretty good list.

We did a show last weekend, here is a picture of our booth. Some places require table cloths and we like to add shelves to elevate items. This show they required that your table cloths went all the way to the ground.

Best of luck and I hope you do awesome.

You have one awesome looking shop there John! And show booth is pretty good looking too.

Me, for the weekend, a little hunting, a little shop time, a little of this, a little of that.

Thanks, I'll be glad to get the shop back together.

John, once you have the shop organized the way you think you want it, take the time at the end of each day to straighten up the shop. Unless you enjoy the organizing process, that is.

Steve, good luck on your show. I doubt the first one will be perfect, but try to enjoy it.

My wife and I will be all over Southern Ohio and Northern Kentucky on Saturday with kids' football games, Shorthorn Association activities, and Emmaus events. Sunday afternoon we will dig some furniture out of storage so that we can donate it to a friend who can use it, and maybe watch a little NFL action.

Rust Hunting this morning......Estate Sale.....Barn shop of line shaft machine tools......Lathe was almost the size of my van.

Not set up for that sort of Old Arn......Sale is going on tomorrow as well  about a 10-15 minute drive for me.

Didn't find too much I "needed"

rust hunt october.JPG

Rusty 1" wide chisel, a decent tape measure, and an Atkins handsaw.  Has the AAA medallion..

It's outside, getting a Simple Green/ATF soaking.  $5 for the day.   Estate sale is located at 3704 TWP RD 32 S, West Liberty, OH.   Post drill presses, lathe, and lots of other goodies.  Bring a trailer.

Shop is taking shape, Moody. Looks like a great place to make sawdust.

Today will be a sharpening day, as was yesterday. All the chisels are done. Now its the planes' turn. Then, it's on to assemble Morris #2. That shoots the next week +. Will get some pics for those who asked.

That booth is awesome, did you have a good show?

Thanks Gene! As soon as I uncover the back bench, I'll get on to some sharpening.

Thanks Dave. I do like to put everything away and clean up at the end of the day. I am so OCD that this drives me crazy, but I just have to take what I can get done each day.

Sounds like you have a fun weekend lined up.

Steve, we did. Sold a lot of boards and took orders for a few other things and had a couple of people drop by the shop this week to purchase some things.

Thanks for the comment on the booth.

Are you setup to take plastic? We do a lot of business on cards. Easy to setup and we get a lot of sales that would otherwise walk off.

Thanks for the shop tour John...enjoyed it...Once everything is in it's place, it's going to be very nice. I'll bet you're really going to enjoy have the DC in a separate space. Booth set-up very appealing too.

For me, had dentist appointment already this AM, ran a couple of other errands and hit a couple of yard sales...not much...did pick up a box of odds-n-ends for $3. Hopefully get all the mowing finished up this AM & tomorrow...shuttle service this PM & tomorrow. Hope to get back to block plane refurb tomorrow & maybe Sunday PM...May try to do some fall garden tilling in areas where everything is finished. Also need to finish a chain saw tune-up for my step-dad. Wife has to work the weekend so I'll have to double down on my domestic duties.

Man you had me out of breath reading all you are going to do!!

It is nice with the DC in another room. Cuts down on the noise and I emptied it yesterday and it was nice to keep that dust out of the shop.

Hey there John, Looks like you could use some of those plastic ramp pieces or whatever they are called that cover wires that are laying on the floor, to keep from tripping over them.

I have a pair of light pull chains to make today, they will be made from Rosewood. I have a lot of stuff to do over the weekend Bottle stoppers, a pen or three, Actually a total of 12 or so but I know I wont get them all. A bottle opener, 3 deer grunt calls. So if my health holds up, I will be a turning fiend this weekend.

I see several of you have plans too, which is good, don't forget that we love to see pictures, when you can get them. I'll be posting some here later today.:)

Have a fun and safe weekend all! I want to see all of you with all your digits on Monday!

Need/want/must to do vs going to do...sometimes there is a mental, physical & emotional disconnect...

John that is still one full shop. Glad you are finally getting some stretch room. I am still working on Christmas angels Photos to come on PIP. Got to clean up some limbs I cut in the yard. Might try an estate sale tomorrow.

Got to get back on the Photography Blog. Actually have started on the next installment, but do not want to write  a book. May do some light experiments also. Software is hit or miss with me but may share some of that also.
