And [snark warning!] you know you're an English major when you keep staring at "your" because it's misspelled.

I do a lot of text editing.  Can't help it.

You know you are a woodworker when you realize it's easier to just use YKYAWW rather than "You Know You Are A Woodworker When". Errr at least, you know you are a smart woodworker!

This is a dichotomy between "smart" and "lazy".  I could go either way, but I've found "lazy" more reliable in my case.

Or the corollary, YKYAWW you can't locate tools in your shop, but you know exactly where the band-aids are.

Just found this thread. Hilarious! Appears it was popular during my AWOL time.

You know you're an old woodworker when you go out to the shop, look around at the mess, see a pencil laying in the saw dust on the floor, grab it up and immediately take it to its rightful location in that "special" kitchen drawer.

Then make a cup of coffee and while enjoying it, ask yourself, "wonder what I should do in the shop today?"

I think I might be a woodworker.  Got the wood.  Got the tools.  Got the clamps. Got a house full of things I made from wood using those tools and clamps.

For a second I thought I might instead be a "fabricator".  Looking around there are only two things I've made that have a little fabric in them.  Not a fabricator.

Maybe I'm just a builder.  I've helped build two garages.  I built all those projects around my house.  I've always worked with wood though.

It is likely I am a woodworker.

Yea, you beat me to that one.  You brush your hair and can't tell if it's dandruff or sawdust.

You see a cutoff of wood and think, "I'll save that for something, I might need it."

If you see clamps at a yard sale and you buy them.

You don't really know how many <tools of a given type> you have without stopping to count them in your head.  Does not apply to clamps, router bits, tape measures, etc.  For those, you have no idea.

Your mother had no idea what you did for your job, but understood the wood projects that you made.

I overheard my uncle, who taught woodworking to high school kids, warn my aunt about letting me play with the tools in his tool chest:  "Don't give him a hammer.  To a young boy everything looks like a nail.".

True story.
