I used to do a lot of woodworking but for the last 10 years or so I have done very little and spent most of my time restoring machines for my shop.

 

I have just about every type of machine that I want or need, except for a big old wood lathe. A couple years ago I had 3 nice ones in the shop but ended up selling them for another machine, but the deal fell through and now I am on the look out for another lathe. I hope I can find one soon cause I really enjoy wood turning. (Pics of some of my wood turnings can be found HERE.)

 

So I think it's time to slow down on the restorations and start using them.

Love your work.... Love the old saw. I have an old crescent.

If that was my saw I would make at least some small band

blade guard catchers. Something just to catch the band if it

should decide to come off.

 

For you guys that like to clean up old machines you need to

look into a needle descaler and a product called PrimeEZ®

Acrylic Lacquer Primer-Surfacer. It's spray on body filler.

Awesome build. I am about to embark on a restore of an old Crescent Band saw myself. I am keen to know more about the fence you have on this machine?

• Did you make it yourself?
• Is there more info or pictures you could share or do up a broken down pictorial you could document up online?

Just an FYI, @Shane Whitlock hasn't been active on the site in quite awhile.  I do wish he would/could make it back, his work was amazing.

Thanks Chaps, The fence looks like a nice bit of kit. I assume he made it... I've seen similar fences before so is probably not to hard to make with a bit of research and planning.

Thanks for posting that up Larry, good to hear that he is doing ok and still enjoying life.

Awesome! All the best to him, Shane by all accounts has left a legacy of which members on this and other forums can strive to fill the gap, I certainly will try my best. I'll start on my Crescent bandsaw and and hope to acquire a Wadkin PK in my local area (Eastern Coast of Australia) in due course.
