    Ear rings

I have been in my scrap bin again and made some ear rings again. These will be Christmas gifts if my girls don't see them first. The longer ones aren't for everyone, but my daughter loves them. I have struggled and worked at getting my pictures on this web site. Total failure until today. If I convert them to JPEG, it works fine. However I must export them to a file and they automatically become JPEG which works fine. I even did the searches and Utube thing and they didn't"t mention exporting.

    More ornaments

I wanted to make some different ornaments and my wife wanted me to use Purple Hart. 1.The one on the left is Purple Hart and Yellow Hart with some embellishment. 2.The one in the Center is all Purple Hart, however I used friction burning to get different shades. you have to look closely, the picture doesn't show it very well 3. This was an experiment with coarse grained White Oak. I used Red latex paint, wipe off after a few minutes and sand. Repeat............I like it. The picture as shown here is an extreme close up and you see many things that no one normally sees. Until I saw it, couldn't believe how close it came out.

    Ergonomic Crochet Hook

My wife saw some ergonomically designed crochet hooks and decided she would like to try one. So she showed me a picture of one. I have made 6 or 7 of the long thin ones and this looked much easier because it had strength in the bulkier handle part. She said it is much easier on her hands. The dia of the small end for the one she wanted was 5MM. It came out pretty good and she liked it so much she wants 3 more sizes. Sorry about the picture quality, but my iPhone was all I could use at the time

    My First Spoon

I thought I'd try to make a wooden spoon. I gathered some scrap Cherry and yellow hart and came up with this one. My wife didn't care for it because of the size and shape of the end scoop. She wanted a flat one. Oh well, my daughter loved it. My next one will be better now that I have done one. Most was done on the lathe and some on the small band saw. The finish is mineral oil and is not quite dry yet

    Conformation cross

My wife asked for me to make a cross for our grandson as a conformation gift from us. She wanted Yellow Hart and something red. I changed her mind. Purple has a special Easter significance and we decide on purple hart as the other wood

    Ringed vase 004

    From the album: Vases

I had a piece of spalted apple and it had some terrific designs in it. I added rings of Yellow Hart and Blood wood to give it a cool look I didn't turn the inside, I bored it instead. The spalted apple wasn't strong enough to fool around with and I was afraid it would break or tare out........ruining my vase
