Well another election is in the books. I, for one, will be glad to return to commercials for Ozempic and Liberty Mutual car insurance. Our Patriot Turners- @RustyFN picked up some great looking Sycamore logs- He received lots of comments on the popularity of Sycamore for turning. Check out the comments at- Rust also made a super score at his local Woodcraft store. Our resident Ring Master turner, @Headhunter, posted some awesome bowls he has completed! Your replies have taken me to areas of turning I've never heard of. Rubber Chucky was a neat and great idea. The string center looked like a very old concept. A lot of set up. I made up something like Chucky. My tail stock is a kit that contains about 6 different centers, holes, etc. I turned down a piece of Oak and drilled a hole for a round pencil eraser. I am going to try other materials too and larger erasers. Could be a great way to hold a pointed piece.

When I turn I go back and forth from a regular lathe to the Legacy and not excelling in either. This is where I started doing tea pots. Wife has been collection tea pots for a while and I thought why not add my little brainy thoughts. Just like hers, they don't do nothing but just sit there needing to be dusted......The tea pot I made her for our 50 th anniversary I accidently sold it at her yearly sale. I felt bad but money talks. So since then I made her a few more hoping she forget about it??? I don't especially like red stain but I still got lots of it from more than 50 years ago and need to use up. A few drops of this stuff goes a long ways. Some of the bottles the lids were not on real tight and in all those years the liquid has turned to dust.

Gerald and I have discussed a tailstock support for delicate turning, such as tree ornaments. Your tailstock must have bearings to do this. I found some very stiff foam at Micheals that is 1" in dia and about inch long. I fashioned a holder made of oak, pressed the foam in and drilled a tapered hole to accommodate the piece. I have not tried it yet, but will report when I do.
