Back Slat Steam Bending

After I ripped out my back slats, and milled them down to 1/4", I sanded to 220 and then laid them out next to the the steam bending form they will go into after a they spend some time in the steam box.

I thought naively I could get away with just two big clamps to close the form, but I was wrong.
