When I need to go down from almost 1" thick down to a 3/4" consistent thickness in 8+ boards, that are between 3' and 6' in length....yep, that planer gets put to work....

Hand planes will get used, though......need to joint one edge on each board. That edge will ride along the rip fence to get the other edge parallel to the jointed edge, and remove the bark.

Will see how today goes along...
