August 25Aug 25 Author Popular Post comment_380346 FEDEX is out for Delivery, today! Will be dropping off the brand new Motor...Bench is for the "Benchtop Power Tools" I have in the shop....was a bit too tippy, last night...so..This mornings sawdust adventure...was to 1) lower the top down from 38" height, to 33-1/2" height...and 2) add those feet..These were used to level out a few high spots in the top..And it was a lot easier to push those planes. In the process of moving tubs around, wondered why one tub was way to heavy to even drag across the gravel floor..took thelid off....Darn, I wondered where all those clamps were hiding.....looks like they are also hiding something under that there towel..Stay tuned.. August 26Aug 26 Author Popular Post comment_380379 So, what was underneath all them clamps? ( 15 @6", 8 @12", 3 @ 18') besides a small stanley Jointer?A stanley No. 6 c?Well, there was a towel in the way...Underneath that towel?Using these 2 as Parts Planes, and.....Six No. 5 jack planes, and....A RED Towel? Underneath that?4 Block Planes ( what, again?) a No. 6 Stanley( another one?) a No. 0-7 Ohio Tool Co. Jointer, and a Stanley No. 8, type 9....that came from Charles Neil's workshop...as he said I could make it work better than he could. the last plane in the tub?Millers Falls offered a line of planes they called the "Value Line" usually with a "V-Line" sticker attached to the Lever cap, I think this was listed as a No. 90 Smooth Plane. Bought 2 planks, and while shopping at Menard's in Sidney, OH...saw this "Thing"Although I MIGHT have the room for that....Cash would certainly be a major problem, along with the cost of shipping it to me..A 2 x 12 x 6', and a 2 x 10 x6' Value BoardsThe 2 x 10 will go here..To redo the "Ready Service Rack" like in the old shop...right about where the red lines are..The 2 x12 x 6'?Will get cross cut and notched to fit on the cross members between the bench's legs...( hmmm, called Value Boards for a reason?)Have a few more of them Black & Yellow tubs to sort through and put out of my way....and maybe find a place for the Bandsaw to sit..Rewire the new motor , so it runs the correct direction ( CCW switch 2 wires does that)Now, IF Mr. Gumption and Mr. Motivation will just get me moving, today...? Stay tuned.. Report
August 28Aug 28 Author Popular Post comment_380416 Shelves need something to sit on..so..Tablesaw was still down, so...a cordless Mitresaw was used, to make these..Drill a pilot hole in each corner...2 x 10 needed cut to length...and then Notched..Just one end, as the other end would have hit the leg vise...Will add a couple screws through the plywood back into the shelf....Ready Service Rack has been installed...Second shelf? Was not going the get notched...why?Hmmm... Trim Saw?Nothing real fancy...installed the shelf as a friction fit, for now...Notice the huge bench vise? I intend to add a 2 x 2 across the front...as soon as a box of long screws shows up...and, I figure out which will be the "Front" of this bench...Right now, this is sitting dead level, and does not rock in use....Which leaves..These 2 tubs....Bottom one is for a yard sale, will set it aside until then....top tub?1st layer...set these out on a bench for now..Will sort out the "Keepers" and add the rest to the Yard sale tub....one other plane...Seems I have 2 V-Line Millers Falls No. 90 smoothers...hmmm, Yard sale items?Next layer?About a dozen 80" Bandsaw blades...set these over on a shelf...next..Some of these are already been put away...Will sort through this mess, later...We getting there...slowly..Mowed the .7 Acre Yard today...not much got done IN the new shop..Stay tuned... August 28Aug 28 Author Popular Post comment_380457 Need to get a few things moved around..Turn the OEM Bench around...can't place it just yet..have another item to move in there..Bandsaw, had to walk it over, and into place..Have to replace a plug on the Bandsaw...NEW Bench?Tablesaw cut a 2 x 2 to length...attached it to the back of the shelf....then walked it over to where the OEM Bench used to sit...This corner has never been flattened, since the day the Bench was built...high time I did....Ready Service Rack has started to take in useful planes...Stay tuned...
