Tuesday at 09:45 PM1 day Our Patriot Turners-@RustyFN is just finishing up a bowl from a board-A little shameless self-promotion. Using an suggestion from @Gerald, I clamped up the walnut/maple segments into the completed blank.Started with 2 adjoining segments glued together and then glued 2 of those assemblies together. That left one of the assemblies which needed glued into place to complete the "pie".Unlike a segmented bowl which is typically glued up with "half rings" and two halves mated together. Then any errors in the angles can be corrected at the half joints. This assembly could not be corrected without it being noticeable- especially with the very thin maple strips. Fortunately, small corrections on the walnut wedges allowed the last assembly to fit- not as tight as I had envisioned but this is an experiment.Truing up the completed blank. And shaping the bottom. This was going to be a a shallow bowl but I woke up in the middle of the night and thought it might make a cool looking pedestal candy dish. It's about 7.5" in diameter. As @steven newman says- "stay tuned"!What's Coming Up-Last week's Tool Talk from Cindy Drozda-https://streamyard.com/watch/GJ9J77sm4U9p?omnisendContactID=6965451f10a273e815a3a1d1https://www.turnonchicago.com/registration/symposium_registration.phpFor The Newbies-Craft Supplies posted a video on turning your own tool handles.
