21 hours ago21 hr Popular Post My wife and I were sitting downstairs enjoying a wonderful movie a few nights ago, and a loud CRASH BOOM came from upstairs, I brushed it off as our two cats getting into it, they are very loud at times.Later I walked up to hit the sack and walked into our closet and low and behold, a complete wire rack system of shelving and all my hanging clothes was now on the floor along with all the boxes we piled up on top of the wire rack shelf.I was fine selling the home with the racks they way they were, but what the heckers, I'll build a single tower cubby and run some rods from it to the walls for hanging the clothes on, and install some top shelving for the heavier stuff. And, it'll be an attraction for the prospective buyers, best part is it won't cost me a dime in materials, I already had the pre-finished 3/4" maple ply on hand from the last cabinet project I did for my workplace a few years back.Ripped some shelves out, at 14" wide.Cut to length the tower cubby side panels, just gotta rout some dados in for the shelves. Some odds and ends left from the last build, I'll be able to use these for shelves etc.All set up for a little production! The layout I'm shooting for is similar to this. We have a walk in closet that is 5' wide by 9' long with the door at the end. So I'll have this layout on one side (wife's side) and my side will just be one closet pole and shelf.Image source: Lowes, Allen Roth Closet System

19 hours ago19 hr Author Popular Post It's been awhile since I've done any sizable flatwork with dadoes, so I made up a zero clearance dado guide. I had half a dozen of these for different sized bits and for my skilsaw. I set em out on the curb awhile back. And just as with my old ones I marked the backside with the router and bit size this can only be used for.
18 hours ago18 hr Did pretty much the same thing for my table saw dado set- #of chippers, size of brass/magnetic shims, type of plywood. Just pick the slot that fits the best.
18 hours ago18 hr Years ago I made a zero clearance dado guide. Still have it, still use it once in a great while. However I'm pretty much all hand tools and love it.
18 hours ago18 hr Author Popular Post Exactly Lew.Anytime I can idiot proof something I'm all over it, cuz, we'll you know😅. The template edge is the dado, don't get any simpler than that. I sure miss my PC7518 I used to have. The 690 does feel it.

I cut plywood for my backer board for the foot stools using a back sawThen planed the edges with my Stanley Bailey #3 Smoothing plane and used my Sweetheart chisels to clean up the corners. Then I chamfered all edges slightly with my Veritas Detail Rabbet PlaneYou can do it! I know you can. 🙂
