Well, I “was” fully back in the shop and started to work on a guitar stand.  I haven’t played in years but i got a guitar and im going to do my best to get back into it.  Here is a photo of one i seen online and i was inspired to attempt this, with one exception, im going to have a small storage place under the base for all the little extras…but we will see.  So far this is what i have done, before another accident happened.  Stupid is as stupid does…10 stitches and super glue to close the wound.  (Never ever grab a bandsaw blade while it’s still running),..anyhow, what my plan is, is to have the base split and have it hinged to lift up to access the storage. I’m on the look out for a hinge that can be mostly hidden.  Ill try to put up more photos as i go along.  Oh, as luck would have it, once i had the stitches taken out, I started in the shop again, and my luck would have it, the blade on my bandsaw broke, so i called it a day.

Oh, im using walnut and yellow heart wood.

Pauley, I suppose it could have been worse, but that sounds like a plenty-bad injury; hope you heal quickly.

The back of  my legs hurt reading about your fight with the bandsaw.  My bandsaw is the only saw that ever got me and it got me twice over the years but not as bad.  I hate my bandsaw.  Hope you heal up well.

It was one of the stupidity thing I’ve done.  I tried tightening the knob under the table (there is two of them) i reached around to tighten that knob and grabbed the blade instead.

I’m healing, just not fast enough for me.  I will do my best to keep showing photos as i move along.  The guitar isn’t much to shout about.  It’s just a cheap one i picked up, but it sounds pretty good to me with two hearing aids..ha ha ha. I’m just want to play again in my old age.

The player makes the instrument sound good. MHO. And music is important at any age. I hope you enjoy it for many years to come.

I am going to give it my best.  I used to play and sing to my daughter when she was real young and always seemed to enjoy it.  Thanks Handfoolery.

Goodness Paul, hate to hear of the accident. Thankful it wasn't any worse. Take care as you heal and be careful. Looking forward to following your build along. Thanks for sharing the story behind it too.

Thanks Grandpadave52.  Things happen when you don’t pay attention.  Not the worst thing that’s happened to me, ha ha ha…hope you’re doing well.

Back in the shop for a couple of hours yesterday and today.  I got a little accomplished.  I also decided not to make the storage box under the stand.  Just wouldn’t look right.

So I cut the curve for the upright arm that the guitar will hang from and what a surprise it was to me…I actually like the way it looks! (It’s the little things in life that I enjoy) I used a slot cutter to cut the for sides of the curve for the yellow heart, it was a little nerve racking, but again, it looks pretty good to these old eyes.  Then i ripped a piece of yellow heart and it was to thick, so i re-did it and was good, after 16 clamps, sticky fingers with the glue up, I got the first piece in place.  It was difficult with clamping this because of the curves and my hands shaking, but i got it done.  Still have the three other sides of the curve to glue up, but i can only handle one at a time.  Here are a couple of photos, you’’ have to look through all the clamps to see the yellow heart.
