Gave it my best shot and even had a little help, but didn't get my weekend project from Friday completed. Maybe tomorrow?

  • Well so much for the January Thaw! the high temperature expected for the next 3 days is 18° and the lows around 0°. Even the basement shop is a little chilly!

  • One of my teachers in high school used to open the windows to keep the kids awake!

Wow, you guys are getting icy over there on the eastern seaboard Lew! I noticed even in the area of South Carolina where we may move too, overnight lows are a tad icy.

Those chocolate ones with icing would be the first to go if I had been there!  Next to a Boston cream, a chocolate donut is usually my favorite.

Those all look good though, nothing in that box I wouldn't eat with a nice cup of coffee.

Not much going on today. Spent most of the morning catching up on the turning club laptop and tried to complete a video for club but the program just did not cooperate. Went to shop for a bit to put away some tools and clear a path. Then the wife insisted , yes dear, on watching the game. Oh Well you win some and the rest don't count.

Really glad to hear the good news, Dave. So are all the donut shops in the area.

Rural living, while mostly pleasurable, has it's drawbacks. Closest donut shop is a Dunkin's and it's a 30 minute drive. Phyl makes our donuts. Fried and glazed. She doesn't like cake donuts, so we don't get any. She may not even know how to make them. Occasionally (read rarely) she'll bring home a dozen assorted from the grocery store's bakery. Where we used to live, I could get cherry and apple fritters from the gas station. Miss getting those! Heck, one of those around 10 AM and you could skip lunch.

Great news, Dave.  Happy for you.

Wonderful news Dave. Prayers for good results next week.

Glad to hear that Dave. You should count your blessings, not everyone comes out the other side of that the same person.

My school had a coal furnace and radiators.  We went outside for elementary school recess most days.  One day, my sixth grade teacher, who paddled someone nearly every day, lined up everyone for a whack because most people got snow on their lower parts of their pants.  Every Friday was spelling test day and you got a whack for every word you missed.  One poor student was terrible at spelling and got multiple every week.  He moved the next year (or maybe just changed schools).  I found him a few years ago and he was a high-powered attorney practicing in DC.

Back in the shop, I made some jigs for the shop that I saw in a vintage FWW.  It's designed to hold pieces on the workbench.  Initial trial turned out well

And made some sort of a gizmo for the wife to help cut out quilting squares on a diagonal.  Piece of Lexan cutoff, sharp blade and a Sharpie.

AND of course, celebrating the Buckeye's national championship.  O-H

Thanks Fred. Donut shops probably have flags at half mast. One less regular trip into their territory.:P

Thanks Bob. One chapter finally completed now on to the next. I've been enduring this saga using your spirit, example and words, "one day at a time." It helps.

Thanks Zack. We continue to see our blessings in this realizing God is in control and His purpose for all this. "There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the sun..."

Glad to hear you're doing better Dave. But still, take care of your back.

Thanks Al. I know you've been down the same road too. Back is doing OK, thank you.

Pray Ellie continues to strengthen and improve. Take care of yourself too.

I think we need to eliminate the Houston Texan post altogether. He may not have been actually looking for help as advertising his work
