Email Notification Anomaly (Resolved)

Featured Replies

I noticed it late Friday and on occasion Saturday some of my email notifications were going directly to my SPAM folder. Watching closer today, it appears only when a status updated for the Friday thread were being sent to SPAM. All other email notifications come directly to my INBOX.

Not sure Lew. I'll have to investigate. Actually their current platform works pretty well; easy to use, nice layout; easy to access remotely; sorta based on the old, old version of g-mail. Far easier

Not urgent John since it's only the one topic. I keep a close eye on my SPAM folder anyway.

I have not been able to find anything on this issue Gramps, have you had any other episodes like this?

Thanks John. No, there have not been any additional notifications sent to SPAM although I don't think there has been any new posts in that topic.

Curious what would happen if there was a post? You or someone else might try a "Test" post just to validate.

Larry and I both replied to it, can you check Gramps?

Sorry, slow getting going today.

Both of yours went directly to SPAM Folder. Obviously something in that thread only that is triggering my ISP email spam filter.:WonderScratch:

Dave, are you using an email client (Thunderbird, outlook, etc) or getting your email directly through the IPS web portal?

Directly through IPS email account. I used to use Outlook as a client, but IPS changed their platform and it doesn't play well with Outlook. IPS provides little to no assistance unless I subscribe to additional services. For a long period, I did not/ could not receive any TPW email notifications.

John tried several things, but finally determined it was the IPS. During my 2ish year AWOL here, with the changes to this site and a few upgrades to the IPS email, all started working again. This is the first occurrence in well over two years.  What's odd it's only this one specific thread.

Some ISP's allow the user to set forwarding rules. Does yours have that capabilities?

I have my SPAM filter set pretty low. It catches most bad stuff, but occasionally some "good" stuff gets sent there too. This current single post issue is the only time in some time I've experienced this with TPW.

Since it appears I'm the only one having the issue and only with this thread, no need to expend lots of time. I just wanted to report. No doubt, since the post originated from @Larry Buskirk, the time and date stamp being "two weeks from anywhere" confused local servers.

A friend went thru that when the security standards were changed a while back.

Not sure how you feel about different software. If this gets worse or you want to try a different email client to pull from the ISP, give Mozilla Thunderbird a try. Works with Windows, easy to set up, very configurable and is Free.

Wonder what would happen if Larry originates a new thread (Test) in this forum, let me respond, then Lew and Larry respond?

If that makes sense, worth a shot should appease the curious.
