:wacko:Live and learn Paul...well live anyway.:P Regardless, it turned out awesome except for the little glitch.

What finish did you you apply? It really made that sapelle come alive.

So first coat is on. I had a real shocker this morning. I went to get the matte cut for the poster and they quoted me almost $200. That’s insane. So I decided to make my own out of maple and then pain

The finish is one coat of Watco

Amazing piece. I could live with that little glimmer. Just put a decal over it or paint a black circle over it. Maybe I missed it but what goes in the long slots? Cigars?

Ok found it , Steak Knives. The last time I saw some in a tray was at the PX Back in 72. Bought a set and we used it for over 40 years.

The two knife sets are completed. The outsides will need a couple of more coats and then put the knives in and deliver. Next it’s a bowl. I’m feeling the need to do some turning. I have some chunks of Wenge which I am going to try to make a bowl out of.

Today was do the final glue up for the bowl and also a blank for a charcuterie ( had to look that one up) board. Also as a side note I saw a YouTube on woodworking and the guy figured out how to wall mount the Makita charger and it works really well. Always hated that it doesn’t come with wall mount slots.

First charcuterie board done. It was supposed to be a Christmas present for someone but the wife snagged this one. I seem to be going backwards instead of forward. Hmmm

Well then, Merry Christmas dear.

You better hide the next one or things will just move from shop to home.

I know. I will put my foot down. No more absconding with Christmas presents. That approach has worked so well in 45 years 😎

You should have told her it was a cutting board; everyone has those.
