Didn't have none of that-there stuff in the 60's. And I had to walk 10 miles to school. In the snow. In Phoenix. I still can't see the forest for the trees.
October 1, 20232 yr The horizontal boring posts brought back an unfulfilled memory of mine. When I taught there was a class in my dept. that was working on a tiny house competition house. One morning I work up wondering if that project could be a good opportunity to research using CNC cut joinery to build the frame. I quickly made sure I could remount the spindle on my CNC to a horizontal position, and edit a post processor to change top down X/Y/Z toolpaths to horizontal Y(for Z) and Z(for Y) and verify by cutting a few samples of joinery between 2x4 studs and baseplates. Even knew I could jig up the CNC bed to hold the ends of the studs to be cut quickly. Basically I figured out how to do it all before announcing the possibility to the department faculty. While the department head was very interested (her husband was a realtor) the studio instructor in charge of the project decided that if the joinery wouldn't be seen once the frame was skinned there was no point. I still have the bracket I made to mount the router horizontally. Perhaps I'll add a small outdoor shed to my list of projects to do using it so I can prove the concept. Then let a future owner of my house who wants to tear down the shed discover it won't come apart easily. 4D

October 1, 20232 yr Guilty as charged on having multiple projects going on at the same time. I like doing different things and my general rule is I try to keep only one project at a time going in each category....although at times there is some overlap. My piddlin is somewhat weather related too. I've got several things I need to take outside and make cuts on etc but haven't because of the heat...it's fixin to break though

Last two "Disasters" have been taken care of. Next! Guess those three projects get put off again. Oh Look, a Chipmunk!
October 4, 20232 yr Popular Post It seems like I have a hundred projects going and then somebody likes to add more projects to the top of the list. "This should be priority" or "do you think you could make this real quick? It shouldn't be that or hard or take that long".........riiight!

(NOT) Ever get to the point that enough is enough? Reached that point yesterday when another since you're retired you can drop everything to do my stuff called while we were waiting for a tow truck to come when the car the stepson and his wife just bought broke down on the way back from Milwaukee. Phone is now shut off until I get MY stuff done.
October 5, 20232 yr Now I am not retired. I have about 20 years to go before that happens. Once in a while i say enough is enough and i just need get some stuff done. I am used to the lengthy list and she is used to waiting and managing expectations with time lines. So i guess it works out well for us. Once in a while i have to say, "I just need to do a fun project for me in." As long as that can happen i don't mind.
