August 18, 20232 yr Popular Post Friday again folks! Here in the land of "Two Weeks From Anywhere" we've been enjoying a bit cooler temperatures the past few days. (It's 54° here now) Looks like Sunday might get a bit warm at a forecast Humid 90° My plans for the weekend will entail working on the 100+ year old Larkin desk and trying to get the plans for the Komputator case which will set on top of it out of my head and possibly onto paper. Much easier said than done because I'm one of those Dyslexic people that visualizes things in 3D while rotating them in my head. (Could be why others think I'm dizzy. Since the desk is pretty much being restored versus modified for the project I'll be doing a separate topic for the Victrola style Komputator case build which will set on top of the desk. That's my plans for the weekend, what's yours?
August 18, 20232 yr Popular Post After last weekend's foray into the Van Gogh exhibit, this weekend promises to be back to what passes for normal around here. SLOWLY working at the scroll saw making golf themed clock for my sister's Christmas present. Some scroll saw artists (of which I'm definitely not one) can whip out a like project in a couple hours. I really enjoy working at that saw but it becomes a bit tedious. I'm not used to having to concentrate so hard. There's a possibility the cutting MIGHT be done by Sunday. Then, there's sanding and finishing. Good thing Christmas is a ways off.

August 18, 20232 yr Popular Post Men's breakfast tomorrow; Church Sunday. Oldest granddaughter coming home Sunday evening for a couple days. Last weekend for youngest granddaughter before she returns to campus beginning her Junior year. Summer sure has gone fast. Hopefully we can get more than one day in a row without rain, rain, more rain. Then it will be PU sticks, PU sticks, more PU sticks; Mowing, mowing, more mowing; weedeating, weedeating, more weedeating.

But the windy part of the hurricane will not be bad by the time it gets to us, mainly a whole bunch of rain. I'm ready though, I love rain!
August 18, 20232 yr Popular Post Outside today enjoying the lower temps and humidity. Weather turning to what @Gerald's will be later this week.

Actually both; coming up on 5 years since we met at @Fred W. Hargis Jr's. Great to have you posting with us again. Hope all has been well for you and family down in St. Charles. IIRC, you were busy doing some major remodeling on your house? Keep us updated on the bench progress...remember the "old rule?"...pictures or it didn't happen Good to have you back.
August 19, 20232 yr Popular Post I've just about wrapped up the basics of my upper garage clean-up. Bunches of "stuff" was removed. It was more hoarders cave than man cave. So; walls painted, ceiling stripped and re-textured, simple moulding put up, floor sealed & coated, four new electrical outlets added, new overhead door and cabinets made and installed. I made a simple base cap thinking a gray caulk would work at the seam between the base moulding and cap - it would've if I can find some dark gray caulk. What the local Ace had in stock was a light gray and stuck out like a sore thumb. Yesterday I changed out the light switches by that doorway to the house. It was a two gang box with a lot of stuff going on in there - a three way switch, two single pole switches and a "junction" to send power to wall outlets, all 12 ga. wires. I changed it out for a three gang big box and had room to clean things up. While I was adding the extra outlets I had discovered that the "junction" was a hot wire stabbed into the back of the three way switch. That connection was loose with no way to fix as it was. Fixed now! Today I need/want to run a couple errands. See if Lowe's or Big Orange might have any dark gray caulk and pick up a jumbo three switch outlet cover. And maybe a sheet of plywood to tackle the need couple projects that will go in the garage.
